By installing quick ties on the strap it bunches up and isn't flat anymore. This prevents it from catching air and vibrating. Mine are installed on a full size van. The doors are tall so the strap is long and doesn't lie flat and tight to the door. Remember as a kid putting a blade of grass between your thumbs and blowing on it? Just like a reed in a wind instrument, it makes a lot of noise. Scrunch it up and you can't get that sound.

This is what I had installed on my Burb. Even when NOT towing I notice that I use the convex mirrors a lot. They really eliminate blind spots, and it's just a second's work to yank them in and out for towing. I never knew what I was missing without having convex mirrors.

I must be a bit dense, but what is a quick tie, and how do you attach it to the strap? I'm picturing this taut strap and trying to skrunch it some type of tie-down thing.
Still in fog....

Thanks!

I wonder if this is the same thing as a cable tie? I could see rolling the edge of the strap inside the other edge and applying the cable tie to make the strap a cylinder rather than flat.
