Towing with a Honda Ridgeline?

Does anyone here tow a smaller (22 feet and under) Airstream with a Honda Ridgeline? If so what are your thoughts about it?

We noticed that the small V8 got a little better gas mileage while towing but while driving back and forth to work that week took quite a bit more fuel than our Ridge but the biggest difference was the ride quality. The F-150 while towing was totally unbearable for my poor back as we looked at each other like a couple of bobble heads going down the freeway. I really hadn’t noticed the Ford being that bouncy until driving the two trucks back to back. I have a much greater appreciation for our fully independent suspension now and the four wheel disks as well. Even with electronic brake control you can feel the difference between the two trucks while we were constantly being cutoff cruising to our destinations which is quite normal here in CA. Other drivers simply see us as a moving road block and rudely “stuff” us at the last minute so it keeps you on your toes regardless of which tow vehicle you use. Drive Safe and Happy Camping…….. I owned a Ridgey this summer. It was so first rate in every way. Absolutely the best lighter duty truck there ever has been and maybe my favorite truck ever. I had to sell it once I got into camping and got a 29' Ambassador as the Ridge couldn't pull it. We bought another trailer which was a 2004 24' Keystone. The Ridge would have pulled it just fine. Now, we are in a 2004 25' International. I bet the Ridge could pull it, but I have a first-rate rig in a new 2007 5.7 liter Tundra. It's overkill for our Airstream and tows it like a dream.
I think a 22' Airstream would pair well with a Ridge.

you should too....

tongue mass/hitch weight is gonna be ONE of the limiting factors with the r/l...

and PROPER w/d is essential for the frontwd r/l...

when looking at newer a/s units.

We own a 19' Intnl. CCD Bambi and a 2007 Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is the only vehicle we own so it serves dual purposes. It's a great vehicle and good for both tasks. We wish it got better fuel economy (about 17 mpg in-town without the Airstream & 9-11 mpg when towing) but have no personal experience with other vehicles capable of performing both tasks.

That said, it's great!

We tow a 22' Safari Sport with our Ridge, do not use a WD hitch and have not had a problem with sway, bounce, etc. Towing at 64mph (our Ridge seems comfortable at that speed) we got a low of 14 to a high of 17mpg dependent on wind and elevation. About the same as our old pop-up which weighed a 1000#s less. AS says their units get 20% better gas mileage than a comparable weight box TT and I am a believer.
