Since your original post asked about the 150/34' combo, we have been happily towing our 34' with a 2009 F150 5.4L V8. I have been very happy with the combo. Initially I had a Reese type hitch and wasn't so happy. When I added a ProPride hitch to the combination it became a very comfortable package.

Towing a 34ft with an F-150

I'm curious, how would a 2008 f250, 5.4L gas, do with towing a 1970 29' ambassador?

to ron h: i like my combination. the issue will be payload but if you build it light you'll end up with about 1800 lbs. of payload. it works for me because i ride solo and all i have in the bed are my hoses.

Didn't I read somewhere that the max payload for the new 150s is about 3400lbs?

It would do fine. I would be sure of having both a WD hitch as well as the anti-sway component, though.

Yes - you would have read wrong as those are more akin to Heavy Duty \ Super Duty numbers.

Custom ordered Stripped down, 2 wheel drive with 2 doors and short wheel base and max payload package = 2,800 tops....

It's all about the payload capacity and a 1/2 ton. 1930 lbs is the top for the supercrew with the regular wheelbase. That is my future goal. The new ones may be better as they shed the weight.

Pretty sure it was advertised as above 3000lbs - it was an ad right here on this forum. I remember it because it was surprising. If it comes up again I'll make sure to capture a screen shot.

Edit: Just checked at the Ford website. 2330 for a 4x4 super crew cab, 3100lbs for the regular cab 145 ecoboost.

since the new aluminum body weighs 750 lbs less that should translate into that much extra payload if everything else remains the same. And my 2011 ecoboost supercab with 8 foot box has a 2740lb payload so 3400lb could be right.

Thank you aage, I have the wd, and use a sway bar on one side .
It's a bit lacking in power, but gets me there.
