Tow Vehicle Question

I haven't noticed many, if anyone that may be using a Dodge Durango as a tow vehicle. Has anyone had experience with using the Durango as a tow vehicle? I am curious about the use for a 19' (I think) Bambi. Also, what would be a maximum but safe tow for a Durango?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Brat, You can do a little research on your own....go the the Trailer Life website and tow vehicle towing capacities link...it's on the left somewhere. You can look up Durangos...

Same with the Bambi (diff site) use Airstream factory site and get specs.....

We had a 2000 Jeep GC (4.7L) and it was sort of OK--especially if you didn't want to break speed records and didn't mind transmission probs WITHOUT dealer approval of repairs--my dealer said this (the Airstream) is too much for this Jeep.... I was within the specs too

Looked at Durangos...they had less capacity than the Jeep AND I/we felt we were looking out of a "German tank"......had something to do with windshield area.

I think the Durango is more than adequate for a bambi. Especially with the 5.2or 5.9L V8
It has a wide frame and stance, and a longer wheelbase than the Jeep GC.
I towed with a Dodge for a few years, and the 5.9L V8 was very satisfying.
My friends who have or had Durangos were happy with them, although they are very truckish and pretty thirsty. Make sure you get one with the factory tow package, and the low gears in the axle(s).
