Tow vehicle mirrors

I just purchased a 2010 25' Flying cloud out of state and will be picking it up in a couple of weeks. My tow vehicle is a 2008 GMC 3/4 ton diesel. I haven't taken any measurements yet but doesn't anyone know if the stock mirrors on the truck will be sufficient to safely tow the Airstream ?

Short answer is. NO! Unless they will extend to the point where you can see down the side of the trailer.

Are the stock mirrors the oval ones? If they're not square ones about 10" tall and 8" wide on slide-out arms, they don't help for towing. My 2013 - supposedly for towing - didn't come with usable towing mirrors. Sheesh...

Congrats on the trailer. If you have what I would consider the standard mirrors on the GMC 2500, I think GMC calls them camper mirrors, they will be fine. If it is the standard mirrors the add-on aftermarket mirrors are good. I used the Grand Aero mirrors from made by JR products.

On my 2015 I have the Camper style ones that manually slide in and out and find that I don't slide them out. I can see down the sides of the trailer just fine. Shoot and post a picture and we can tell you for certain.

I hauled my Bambi home with the standard mirrors on my '13 Ford Expedition w/trlr pkg, probably the same width as your GMC, barbamba. The trailer is just about as wide as the outside of the mirrors. The blind spot is a triangle, the edges of which extend from both front corners of the trailer to a point at the outer edge of the lane beside it about 150 yards back. Behind that is a mystery that we cannot know. Wider mirrors would let me look straight down the sides for a clear view of the lanes alongside, but still a blind spot right behind. I'm thinking stock mirrors with a wireless rear view camera on the trailer is the way to go.

Idiots keep tailgating me. They end up right in the blind spot behind the trailer. They seem to forget that if they can not see me in my mirrors then I can not see them. A rear view camera on the trailer would be an excellent thing to have.

We use McKesh Mirrors with the round spots on our Tacoma and really like them. The stock mirrors on Tacomas are not adequate. Some think they are difficult to use but we find them very easy ... once you get them set up properly they go on and off in about 2 minutes or better. Good luck!
