I've noticed that most manufacture tongue weight ratings are exactly 10% of the vehicles maximum tow rating. Seems bogus as these ratings go up and down for identical vehicles, just different trims and engine sizes. I wouldn't sweat a hundred pounds over.
Quick question about towing a 1956 Safari. Trailer weight is 2600 pounds, but tongue weight is 450 pounds. My hitch is rated to tow 3500 pounds, but 350 pounds on the tongue. Should I sweat this or not?
