Finally waded thru this whole thread,, what a workout.
No axe to grind,, just thinking about the HP vs Torque thing, and thought about the old F1 cars from ~15 years ago, (I haven't kept up on them lately).
Anyway, a typical 3.0 engine was developing ~800 HP at ~16,000 rpm,, but the torque at that speed is only ~260 ft lbs.
But,, the little F1 car doesn't need much torque, because it weighs almost nothing,, but it takes a lot of HP to go FAST,, the element of TIME is what makes the grasp of torque vs horsepower a stumbling block to many.
Back in the '60s, GMC made a 702in V-12 gasser,, it had a lot of torque,, and used a lot of fuel too.

Physics still applies...the two variables are different units of measurement. Can’t believe people are still arguing which one is “better”. Haven’t kept up with the thread...been busy pulling my Airstream around and actually camping...

I’ll probably be trading this truck in November (the gas one; keeping my diesel) and am again considering a 6.7, not because of performance or maintenance costs but simply because I like the sound and feel. With my discount I actually pay less for new than for the several used F350s on the lot.

Having driven so many of these I do notice a stronger pull “off the line” with the 6.7 but that alone doesn’t make it the deciding factor. I hope people making a similar choice actually drive them rather than reading this ridiculous thread.

Well it ain’t November but the Ford is gone and there’s a Ram 2500 Cummins in its place. Laramie with all the options. Can’t wait to tow with it!

Do not know which is best, MFG. or fuel used, really do not care. Big Block Ford person for 40 years. First RAM, first Diesel, we are still loving it every time we tow.................

The more you tow the more you will love it!

We just took our Ram 2500 and 28’ International over the “Gauntlet” today, first time. Wow is all I can say. Set the cruise and watch it go.

On the other side I NEVER touched the brake, engine did it all.

... find a dealer who knows what is needed... look for one with a lot of white on the lot, they are most likely more knowledgeable about what may be needed. 👍
