Titan XD half-ton Cummins Diesel

This could be interesting...half-ton with 5L Cummins diesel with 2000+ payload and 12,000 tow capacity.

I waited for this truck for what seemed like forever. I finally got tired of waiting and bought something else, but all the specs I kept reading led me to believe it could be about the perfect size to safely tow an Airstream. It should fall somewhere between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. I'm still looking forward to reading RV owners reviews on it once there are some out on the road.

Up until last year they were imported to Mexico. Nice truck but no longer available new in Mexico.

This truck was sold in Mexico? I thought it was an "all new" truck based on the Nissan NV van chassis. I am pretty sure the Cummins engine is new and has never sold in anything before. I could be wrong, but I researched the truck pretty heavily and it seems like a segment buster to me. Not quite a 2500, but heavier than any of the 1500's.

I have been looking very closely at this exact truck. Should be out soon according to the Nissan website.

The US one could very well be absolutely new to the entire world.
In Mexico there were two - 1/2 ton small, 3/4 ton medium. But as of last year the dealers say no more Nissan diesel trucks to Mexico. The model names change in different parts of the world.

I wonder if a "3/4 ton medium" is like an oversized 1/2 ton. That seems consistent with the way Nissan is marketing the truck.

We've been on our dealer's list for a test drive WITH our A/S for several months. Don't believe we will jump on it though until we see the results of at least 6-12 months of it being in active use as a tow vehicle. I don't want to be the one to find any 'new concept problems'!

I know there are MANY Ford F150 EcoDiesel owners out there who are VERY HAPPY with them, but 'blowing' a 3.7 l gasser up to 450 or so #/' torque is bit much for me. This XD could be a nice alternative to a 'hard tail' F250/350.

You may be premature with your apology. Ford has dropped the 6.2 in the upcoming 2017 Raptor in favor of the 3.5 ecoboost. But they are saying it will be more powerful than the outgoing 6.2 which is rated at 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. Your number may not be off.

Most diesel powered 3/4T 2500 series frames don't have much payload beyond 2000lbs. I believe the GM 2500hd with Duramax have the highest with about 2400lbs in mid trim levels. My 2015 Ram 2500 with Crewcab CTD only has 2089lb payload. The Ford 250 diesel SuperCrew SWB has about 1900lbs. The higher the trim level the less payload.

It will be interesting to see what the production XD will show on the tire/load door sticker for available payload. I'm guessing around 2000lbs
