My early HPCR 5.9L Cummins is rated 305HP and 555TQ. Even starting from a 7,940-lb solo weight (6,860 ship weight) it's still ridiculously overpowered for any Airstream ever made.
I've used the same truck in a heavier DRW configuration to haul oilfield trailer hotshot loads where the GCW is north of 30k. No complaints as to power or gears. (Or engine or vehicle life).
The smaller V8 is going to rev up faster than my old straight six. And the light duty truck auto trans will get thru the gears faster than my medium duty class truck manual transmission.
The Datsun truck will be a good deal lighter than my old Dodge, too.
Learning to drive has as a constituent part learning to merge with freeway traffic. Can't force outside lane to change lanes or brake as one enters. 500 feet of leeway. Even at 33k it can be done on a Texas 75-mph Interstate. It's about the driver, not the rig.
Sub 20k problems? Can't get out of its own way? That a joke, right?
