Tires for Tow Vehicle

time for new tires on my truck. the original Goodyears are shot. I heard an add on TV that Sears is having a sale......browsing some dodge-ram forums, there are quite a few negative comments about goodyears, though. (at least the stock one's that Dodge puts on the new trucks).

I was leaning toward BFG Longtrail A/Ts.

What do you think? What's a good tire for a mostly street-driven truck that does some occasional A/S towing?

NTB

They just (maybe it is still on) had a sale on Dunlop tires. I got a set for $99 each, with 60,000 mile tread warranty. The Michelins for $142 had 50,000 tread warranty. So far I like, nice quiet tires, good tread. NTB=National Tire & Battery

Costco is killing the compition on tire prices if you have one near you it's well worth the trip. They will have to order the Long trail but they will have BFG parrent company Michilens in stock.

To give you an idea how bad Costco beats the price I bought a set of BFG 35x12.5x15 tires for my 4x4 for $147 plus tax and a $2 disposal fee for the old tire. That's mounted, ballanced WITH road hazard. NTB quoted me $220 for the same thing. When I told them the price at Costco they wouldn't talk to me and got defensive and flat out would not match the price.

The PO put a Set of Michelin heavy duty hwy tires on my Burb when it was his. He was pulling a 31ft Excella. He tells me they had about 25k on them when he sold it to me and they still have half tread. Tire is worthless for a 4x4 but great for the hwy. I'll probably replace with the same when it comes time. since it's a 2wd

The Long trail is a pretty good tire if it's anything like the other BFG truck tires. I have also run the BFG KO All terain and they wore great! More aggresive then the long Trail and good mannered at the same time. They were quite as well. I don't think you can go wrong with your selection.

I was considering the TA/KOs....saw some people talkin' them up on another board, but these dudes are all "off-roaders". They have them at Costco, for 150 bucks. I went on BFG's web site, and their "tire selector" program says I should get the long trails...looks like the TA/KOs are really more suited to off-roading, and since I almost never do that....at least not on purpose

I may call Costco and ask them to special-order the long trails for me. They are great to deal with (bought tires from them before), and I go right by one every night on the way home from work.
