Time to decide

Hello all. We are newbies we just bought a 2018 International Serenity 30'. Now we need a tow vehicle. I do not want to discuss the gas or diesel debate, we have decided to go with diesel. The question that we have is Ford F250 vs. Chevy or GMC 2500 debate. I know there will be some responses but I want to hear some of the pros and cons. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from everyone.

The interior of the Ford is nicer. Look for the higher payload. Why didn't you decide on a 350/3500? Just curious.

I really think that the 350/3500 was to much truck and I really did not want to go over my budget . I know what budget you just bought an Airstream I still have a budget and hope to stay within that. So far my research has shown the Ford to be roomier. Thanks for your input.

Of those two I’d pick the Ford. This is a minor detail, but it’s stupid to have the DEF filler up front. Ford and Dodge got that right and put it by the diesel filler.

My son has already pumped a few tanks where people have put DEF in the fuel.

In my opinion the biggest mistake people make when buying anything larger than a F150 is that they don't go to a Ford commercial truck dealer. Many Ford Dealerships have a commercial group, that is who you want to talk to. And, by the way, the price difference between an F250 and F350 is only about a grand.

Do some research and know all the weight ratings of your Airstream and have that with you. Also give some thought to the payload you will need to carry in the truck.

A knowledgeable commercial truck specialist will walk through all that with you and make recommendations.

Just my opinion,
Pat

I think they're both good and it all comes down to the personal little things. I liked the Ford 250 but when it came down to deciding, The Chevy 2500 was a few inches shorter and would fit in the garage. Plus Chevy had 0% financing and I decided to leave 50K in the market instead of with the dealer.

Another thing to check is requirement for annual safety certificates. In Manitoba you have to have a 350, or 3500 safetied annually. This can get costly and is a PITA. Also in some juristictions you will be required to pull into scales and can be subjected to roadside safety checks by DOT.
