My new Ford came with an easy to life tailgate. Not bad compared to the Tundra I have.

Hi madrone, any concerns with drilling holes/corrosion?
Are there gasket/grommets for the holes?
Hard to tell from the website...
Thanx, Bill

I had the same questions and really don't like the idea of drilling into a truck - even an older one.
BTW - I did get a look at the newer Ford F250 with an assist system and can see and feel the benifits from one of these.

my tundra has it. love it. i can walk up and hit the latch and bend down and grab what i'm loading, i don't have to sit the tailgate down. it just gently falls open and it is extremely light to close. Mine came with the vehicle, it's not this companies though.

Am waiting to hear of your experience and satisfaction with it! This would make a big difference, especially when you have one arm full of stuff and having to mess with the tailgate. Photos if you can, please.

Any Updates?
Does anyone have anything else to add about these, before I order one for my 2003 Ram 2500?
thanks,
Ken

Ken, a couple of points:
1. I would recommend a system that assists closing as well as opening the tailgate. The Gateglide I installed does both, and they are both equally important to my DW.
2. I attached my Gateglide to the bottom of one of my side toolboxes. The securing clips rapidly corroded, perhaps because of electrolytic corrosion with the aluminum box and zinc plated clips. I replaced the clips with new ones. They are standard conduit clips, readily available from, for example, Home Depot. I attached the new clips with stainless bolts with isolating fibre washers and gaskets.
Several years experience with the Gateglide leaves me very pleased with the investment.
Nick.

I have had the Tailgate Easy Lift on our 04 Ram 1500 for about three years......works as advertised. You can close the tailgate with one finger. I've almost forgotten how heavy that tailgate was before I installed it.
You will need another set of hands to fit the tailgate onto the torsion bar when installing.
