Hmmmmm, like idea I can leave 3rd row in, second still has to come out. What is haul # and any idea on price? Well I actually think that particular inside is not attractive. Was there a spec page?

Wabbiter,
Thanks for posting the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban links.

Everyone,
Here is the link to the Yukon/XL/Denali information (analogous to Chevy Link).

Lucius and/or Danielle,
I don't think that the link you posted has been posted before. However, I think that the article primarily alludes to the powertrain (engine/transmission combination) for the 1500/half-ton series vehicles. I do believe that the 4.5 L Duramax will eventually be brought out and I can see an eight or ten speed transmission. The number of gears allows the engine to always stay in its optimum torque RPM band where the engine operates at peak efficiency. I haven't seen anything really yet on GM's plans for a 2500 series SUV. We may be a year away from any announcement on this product line.

My father-in-law pulled his with a 1972 Travell 1200.

I started pulling mine with a custom deluxe C20 w 350 motor, pulled 31 Sovereign ok, moved up to 86 Suburban with tailgate and 454, loved it but not power windows and the tailgate was too heavy. Eventually the truck rustedout in the rockers with 120,000 miles.

Found a really nice 99 2500 454 with barn doors and three seats.... pulls the trailer like a dream. 150.000 miles... I'm 64 this car will last me until I quit airstreaming.

Hate to see GM discontinue the 2500....my brother in law pulls his 39 foot Montana with a extended cab 2500 silverado. I need a step ladder to get in teh bed.

here's alink to the photo of our truck and trailer, can't get it to post here https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

sigh.

I purchased a 2013 2500 leftover, was hard to find. My 2008 1500 had enough miles, and I did not want to wait til the 2015 came out. Mine is used mostly was a huge work horse and works for me.

QUOTE..."Since the three models were last redesigned 8 years ago, GM didn’t provide technical upgrades for the SUVs, but that may change from now on."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is why many of the high tech suv's have become stand outs these days as Tv's. GM has applied modern technology to vehicles like the newer Caddy sport sedans but have been so slow in getting the big ol SUV's up to the competition's performance levels.

Am selling my Suburban 2500 8.1 liter

I plan to sell my 2005 Sub this December. 2500, 8.1 liter engine, 4.1 ratio, so it pulls great. 3 seats, upgraded hitch receiver, additional tranny cooler etc, leather, loaded. I have not researched market price yet as just made the decision to sell, but will figure that out soon.

I've done a little more study of the new Silverado and Sierra pickups. GM was offering a the following pickups until the 2014 models came along:
1500
1500 HD
2500 (virtually like the 1500 HD in features)
2500 HD (taller frame, optional Duramax and Allison transmission, full floating axles)
3500 (single and dual rear wheels & multiple spring rates available)

The 2500 Suburban/Yukon XL had parts commonality with the 2500 (non 2500 HD) models.

The 2014 Sierras and Silverados are no longer offered in the 1500 HD or the 2500 versions (both of which had a similar frame height to the 1500 truck and semi-floating rear axles). I've also talked to several Chevy and GMC dealers and they said that it's been five to seven years since they have sold hardly any 2500 SUVs. That's significant since here in Kansas, a lot of ranchers and others have bought the three-quarter versions in the past twenty years.

All of this leads me to believe that it is unlikely that a 2500 Suburban/Yukon XL will be offered again. I hope that I'm wrong. Luckily my 2000 K2500 still pulls my 34 footer just fine and is in good condition.

I agree they are likely not coming back unfortunately. I read that out of all Suburbans sold the 2500 only constituted 5300 units in 2013, so not many. The bummer is for those units sold they was not much else to take its place. Secret Service, private security, horse people, RVers with kids. I have had four 2500s of various configurations and liked them all, only drawback was they were a bit thirsty for driving daily which i never did.
Sure gonna miss em though!!

I've recently been looking for evidence about the reintroduction of the 2500 series Suburban/Yukon XL and I found this article and picture. These are current production GM 8 lug wheels with hub caps to camouflage the hub area. I'd say that this is a 6.0 L "test mule" that's being driven/tested for evaluation. This doesn't mean that they're ready to introduce the 2500 series again, but the unexpected decline in fuel prices over the past year changes a lot of thighs.

I think I saw the same article and commented on it on another forum - specifically for GM trucks - but nobody there (at that forum) had heard anything about a new/improved Suburban 2500.

I hope the reintroduction of the Suburban 2500 is true and that the 2015 lapse of the 2500 was just a matter of prioritizing the production facilities. It's obvious the 1500 sells in much higher volume so it only makes sense the factory (ies) wanted to focus on those models first.

If the 2500 is really happening I am wishing for the 6.2L engine that's currently available in the Denali trim. The specs on that engine are better (torque and HP) than previous generation big blocks.

Does anyone have experience with the 6.2L? Does it really do as well as previous 8.1L and 7.4L engines? Those big blocks made excellent tow vehicles even if gas consumption was high.
