Suburban 05 3/4 ton 6L 4.1 axle
Looking at an 08 Classic 30 s/o. Can my vehicle tow this trailer? It has a towing package plus Quadrmaster 4x4 and AWD with 4.1 rear axle 3/4 ton.

JCanavera tows a 30' slide with a 3/4 ton GMC van with the same engine, trans and I believe gears. He's pleased with that combo from what I understand. He did however have to swap out his factory hitch for a more stout hitch due to the massive hitch weight of the slide out. Back in his model year, the factory hitch was not rated for such hitch weights. Not sure if the new trucks and vans have upgraded hitches.
That said, if you fully load the 30' side out, you will exceed the stated tow rating for the Suburban. I would feel more comfortable with an 8.1L engine, but that is not an option 2006 Burbs on up, but it was for the '05s! Rumors are everywhere that a diesel Suburban may grace our presence in about 12-16 months from now. That would be great for the 30' slide out and then some.......
Take the slide out of the equation and sure, the standard 30' would be fine....provided you don't load it to it's max NCC. A 28' hands down would fit, even fully loaded going by the numbers alone.

Looking at the Airstream site, the 30' Classic slide has a current GVWR of 10,300lbs fully loaded and a hitch weight of 1,050 lbs:
Airstream :: Classic
Anything less and it is most likely an early 2005 manual/data sheet you're looking at as Airstream raised the NCC by adding more robust axles in mid 2005, along with disc brakes and taller stainless steel front rock guards.

We have the 07 Suburban with 6.0 and 4.10 to pull our 27' Classic and it is great. Before that we used the 1/2 ton Expedition and while we barely squeaked by with the 25' Classic, larger and heavier Airstreams require larger and heavier tow vehicles. It also rides much better and pulls more effortlessly. Cool that you have the opportunity to get quadrasteer(?)

GM discontinued Quadrasteer (4 wheel steering) after the 2005 model year. What a mistake on the part of GM.
I am not familiar with "Quadmaster"; what is it?

I agree...it is useful and I heard that the foreign owned automakers are quickly looking to adopt it......
Add that to the long list of GM dumb decisions:
Corvair
Fiero
Impala SS
EV1
Just for a few to mention....

Change order
We are in the final negotiations with Colonial. We think the 31 layout model suits our needs. The head is closed off by a sliding door rather than exposed as a suite, less carpet, and almost 900lbs less in weight compared to the 30 SO. The one we want has also a second AC in the master better for florida. We will also get a hensley hitch and podigy brake controller threough them. I think I will be alright with my TV. When the lease runs out next May I hope the burb diesel version is on the market.
