GMC and Chevy Colorado are out with new trucks. They haven't been raod tested yet but the rating is 7000 on paper. Time will tell how accurate that number is.

If you don't mind my asking, do you know your actual tongue weight and the maximum listed for your vehicle?

I'm just trying to get a handle on the limits others are facing in this department.

And soon the smaller Duramax Diesel. Interested in the MPGs, although a similar model has been available in Europe, it is hard to extrapolate the mileage from their ratings. It will probably be a year from now before we get EPA numbers on it, although it has been spied high altitude testing in the Rockies.

at this time I have had my Trailblazer 6 cyl for 6 months or so. I really want to go back to a V8. The mileagewhile towing is about the same. but the power is lacking. On hills and steep grades, fuggedaboutit. The only benefit is when I am not towing and that is no big deal...
Thinking used Expedition. So much for the small tow vehicle and me...LOL

Considered small by most. Our Audi Q5 3.0T pulls our '15 28' FC with ease. The engine/transmission combination is ridiculous in this car. Severely underrated from Audi. 105km/h on flats and the car is at 1700rpm....with the trailer. I've NEVER needed to be above 4000rpm on ANY grade of hill. The torque delivery of the supercharged V6 is long and fat. 4 piston Brembos with large vented rotors are stock. Hitch reinforced and tow setup by CanAM. P3 brake controller. The only change to the car I've made from stock is upsizing the wheels to 20x9's with a higher load rated tire. Some of this was for looks but I also wanted more capacity on the tire to feel comfortable.

Hi Alan, if you are thinking used, any one of the SUVs with a diesel has more than enough power and economy to do the job while rewarding you with a smile. This is my son's setup and he is one frugal dude. 2008 Jeep GC Diesel, 20' 67 GT. Jim

Thanks for sharing your experience. My observation has been that the so called "small tow vehicles", as cool as they seem, usually are not a viable long term solution unless you are towing a small/vintage trailer.

I really wish those Euro Airstreams were available here in North America. If I am not mistake your's is an International 684, a 27 footer, with 4400# dry weight (Tongue weight: 240# to 330#). IMO, the interiors are also much nicer in Euro Airstreams.

My Overlander is only about 4000lbs, and the Trailblazer tows it ok, but I am coming from a V10 Excursion which I now regret selling. I am on a pretty tight budget, so I am looking at 2003-07 Expeditions. everything else is way to much $$

Lexus recommends 525 max with WDH, FC20' is 631

Thanks.

I'm calling Andy at CanAm in the morning to help get a handle on my situation.
