Shocks

Searched and didn't find much. Have a 1999 3/4 ton Suburban. I have never replaced the shocks...probably time. Any suggestions as to brand and model of shocks? Monroe? Bilstein?
Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

Monroe always made a decent shock, but they have many flavors of them.

Were you happy with the ride when it was newer? If so, you might just get a new set of the OEM shocks from GM.

Bilsteins are definitely good shocks. So are Koni's. A lot of guys run Rancho, but those are generally on the jacked up 4x4 trucks.

1992-1999 Chevy Suburban Shocks & Struts - Bilstein 24-024211 - Bilstein Heavy Duty Shocks

Maybe something like this? You could call these guys and tell them what you want to do with the vehicle and they could recommend something to you.

Hope it helps,

Jim

I know the torsion rod Ford suspension is different than your Chevy -

I had to go with HD Bilsteins on my F150 - and will say when new they were great, then they lose a little nitrogen charge and its three-kids-jumping-on-a-waterbed with lots of bounce and sway until they warm up.... if they warm up. I just lost the seal in the RR shock, nice golden oil sheeting out of it. Good shock for 12-18-months?

Oh - and that extra N2 boost up on the front end is no help towing, in my opinion, boosts the hitch weight effects... Ford later came equipped with Ranchos, that or Monroe will be my next shocks

Thanks for the comments. Might explore the Rancho a bit more. Appreciate the input.
