Exclamation Sequoia as Tow Vehicle, help for a new guy.

I've just talked to a nice man who is interested in my 2005 22ft CCD that I'm selling. I'm getting a 25 Safari FB SE. He didn't know about this forum, but I clued him in so he says he'll look at it as soon as he gets home.

He wants to tow it with a Sequoia which has a class III hitch, std. 7 pin connector and Prodigy brake controller. I am including a Reese weight distributing hitch with friction anti-sway bar in the sale. I think his vehicle would be ok for a 22ft, but I wouldn't want to go much bigger.

For those of you who are more adept at using "Search" than I, please post links to any other discussions on the topic of this vehicle for towing.

Thanks all, Tin Lizzie

If the specs are similar to what I see on the Toyota website for 2006, he's gonna be pretty close to max if he has a family he's bringing, gear, pets, full tank of fuel and a loaded 22' coach, etc. Any shortcomings will be amplified on hills and mountains. Glad you are selling him your weight distribution gear. I don't think the Class III hitch is enough without that gear. I think the gear makes it a Class IV, which is what he'll need for a 5500lb 22' (or at least that's what I think a 22' weighs).

If he's sticking to the flatland and it's just a few folks and not a lot of gear, he should be ok. The truck is rated for 6500lbs, has body on frame construction and has a 118.1" wheebase. Should be ok with a 22', but as I said before he's most likely gonna be very close to the threshold and may exceed it give a certain set of variables. I wouldn't go larger than 22'. I'd feel better with a 19' with his Sequoia, with family, gear, fuel, etc.

Whew! Back after 24 hours of bad broadband locally. 48 hours without the Forums and my hands are just shaking. I can quit anytime I want ....

Sequoia is the SUV version of the Toyota Tundra. I can't recall many threads on the Sequoia specifically. I do recall some on the truck/SUV combo of Nissan Titan/Armada. An SUV body is heavier than a truck box, so load capacity for people aboard & hitch weight is probably less than Tundra. Searching on the Tundra might give some indications.
