It's cool, What is it? Some special edition?

It breaks it up and makes it look more sleek and less boxy.

What is this that we have?

Is it a station wagon or a SUV.

This picture shows it with the optional Snow Trim Package.

There was a Chevy Caprice version of it, too. When I was a kid my grandmother had a 1967 Ford Country Squire wagon with a 460. I remember my granddaddy saying it shared a frame with the Lincoln Continental. I wonder if that would tow an Airstream.

Here's another confusing one.
This is Susan's vehicle.
It does have four doors.
Is it a SUV or a Station wagon?
It has the optional Snow AND Mud trim package.
And it has selectable 4WD.

I'm sure it would. The question that would require some research is - How big an Airstream.

I think it's a look that would not wear well with time. The Flex is a large vehicle, and the wood pattern takes away its "sleek" style note, IMHO. In short, I think you would regret doing it in a while.

Well, it's a pickup with a shell on it, or at least, it looks like one...

My story is: It is a very large SUV with a roomy cargo compartment.

However the back seats fold down. Maybe its a Supersized station wagon.

I think we consumers need to take a stand and demand some rigid definitions. We can't allow these manufacturers to call their vehicles whatever they want?

We have set up several Volvo wagons. With the Turbo they are a great sleeper, who expects a Volvo wagon to clean their clock at a stop light and the handling is very precise and stable.

If I had my way, there would be wagons and vans and the heck with SUV's. My wife loves her 96 Subaru Legacy Wagon. The Subaru is well engineered and designed to be maintained. I wish they made something with the stones to pull a trailer. I grew up in vans and you can't beat their interior volume with anything else. I ended up with a Ford Excursion because it was cheap but a full size van with a single row of seats in the back would have been great. The Flex is basically a light duty wagon and not what I would call a tow vehicle. I would say it is a squashed minivan.

Not confusing.
It's a hatch back.

With a long wheelbase and a 4500# towing capacity, I don't see any reason not to consider it a tow vehicle.

Which makes me wonder, what kind of towing capacity did those big old station wagons have back in the day? Were they rated for how much they could tow? I grew up with a late-60s Bonneville as the family car. We never towed with it, but I believe that beast could have pulled just about any Airstream they made.

My point is: You can't compare a hatchback to a station wagon to a SUV or decide which is more popular, when the only thing that defines one from another is: "that's what the manufacturer or some auto magazine decided to call it."

Preach it! Just make it capable of 10,000# towing - preferably a diesel and 6 speed Allison.

Try buying enough dynoc to restore a '48 Chrysler Town & Country convertible and you'll rethink your comment on contact paper!

Possibly.
Looks like my grandmother's '67, but hers was white.
The woody trim and the blue interior are the same.

The only difference I see between a station wagon and a hatchback is the length of the storage area behind the back seat.
Station wagons are longer than hatchbacks.
