Howdy y'all!

First post on RVS (Rear View Safety) Quad system.

Here are pics on "arrival" and initial layout.

When connecting all for a "bench test" I discovered missing cabling. Specifically the cables for the Sideview cameras.

RVS was contacted, pics sent verifying proper layout. RVS is overnighting missing cables. Awaiting delivery.

My goal is to set up and "burn in" system preceding install.

It is hard to see in the last pic...but is the License plate camera for the truck or the AS? What and where will you mount the AS rear camera?

Good question!
The small 'license plate' camera is going on THOR (TV).

The smaller 'sidelooking' cameras further up the picture will be mounted (hopefully), on the 'stone guards'. I say 'hopefully' because I am not sure, yet, whether the forward, curb side ZipDee arm will cause a problem. The Street Side has an unobstructed view of that side.

The larger rectangle camera at the top will be mounted 'somewhere' near license plate as of this stage in planning/layout.

I am considering gluing and/or screwing down some rare earth magnets to hold the cameras in place... or fashioning brackets...such as a bracket attaching to license plate screws which then support the camera (but, I think that may allow too much vibration for decent picture when underway..)

I can take better pics and post..

If anyone wants reallllly detailed pics above what I post, send a PM where I can reply via Email.

Reason I asked. If you plan on using the rear camera while driving, I advise to mount no lower than the top of the rear window. At night, the headlights of the cars behind render the camera "blind" and make it useless if it is below the window level.

Is that camera infrared as well. If not you will need really good additional rear lighting for nighttime backing.

Ah.. thanks! I had NOT considered the 'bloom' of nighttime headlights.

I don't think we will be doing a LOT of nighttime travel...due to my personal restrictions of nighttime driving, although it may happen, so I need to strongly consider mounting above window.

Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, all cameras are 'infrared" and have illuminators.

Boy... That's one ugly job! I crawled through the RUNES they jokingly call "schematics" but were more like Easter Egg hunting with the fairy tale creatures.

There are several "black boxes" to which you must speak clear thoughts with a clear mind. A big NOrvana not nirvana!

There is the UMBC, the MCB, BCM, left and right Fuse Panel and I/PBuss, Brake Controler, EMB, and other incidental "imbedded solid state circuits"... So, one EMP will ruin this truck.

I have not taken pics today for several reasons. But tomorrow when I am completing the TV portion I will grab some pics.

I did run tests with a battery source for power and all works!

My biggest physical problem was vision... I have significant vision impairment, color blindness among them. So this was a very trying day.

The most difficult was trying to discern the dribbled information on how the wiring is plotted. I finally discovered a clue! Go to GMUPFITTER.com. There are PDF files for GM products which can be downloaded FREE! But I must caution that it is detailed.

I was unable to decant much but got a clue where to start. The wiring enters and exits looms and black boxes.

For instance, when you flip on a turn signal, a line is grounded which tells the BMC to take appropriate action. In this example, a circuit pics a relay which sends power through the FUSE!!! The power entering the circuit comes from another fused circuit in the UMBC... Lost? I sure was! Probably still am!

Since the RVS Quad system can use turn and reverse to give camera priority which means the screen goes Full Screen displaying target camera. So wiring into the proper wire is crucial!

Well, enough for now... Good night all!
