Rear end switchout help

I have an F150 5.3 but comes with a 4:10. I only pull twice a year trailer is max 6900 if its fully loaded which it never is. Rest of the time its just for normal stuff. Whats the cost for a changeout from 4:10 to 3:73 or 3:55? Thanks again Dave

Depending on where you take the truck for the gear change, it could be as much as $1,200. This was the amount of money quoted me by a dealer.

Don't know about where you live, but there is a shop here that specializes in working on differentials only, and changed one for me recently for about $500, and that included the gears.

However, if your truck is a later model and has a computer, it will have to be reprogrammed also, and the cheapest way to do that is to buy a prgrammer for about another $400.

You're probably better off keeping the 4.10 gears.

Dave, give a call to West Coast Differentials up near Sacramento, off Hiway 50 in Rancho Cordova...

I bought gears, axle shafts, locker, LS and bearings for my 4x4 89 Bronco - went from a 3.55 to 4.10 gears...everything fit perfect!

Also, I changed gears in my 4x4 99 F-350 from 3.73 to 4.56, also added a LS diff to the rear - I had them do the labor in their shop - they got it out in one day and cost about $2K a year and half ago...

They have all the stuff you'll need if you do it yourself, or they'll do the swap if you want...

Here's their site: West Coast Differentials: Ring & Pinion Gears, Posi's, Lockers & Axle Parts

These guys only do gears, and they know their stuff!
