I am picking up a 2009 5.7l Hemi Jeep Commander this weekend and will be using it as my primary tow vehicle for my '79 23' Safari. I've been using a Dodge Ram 1500 with the same Hemi engine for the past year, and although it has plenty of power, I have never been happy with the "feel" of the tow. I really think that maybe it sits too high.
Curious to hear others' ACTUAL experience with this setup.
With the proper hitch set up you should have no problem.
Interesting that you posted this thread. My wife and I drove by a lot yesterday that had the same vehicle and commented how nice it would for the Airstream. We had an 88 Cherokee Ltd 4L that has a similar look. We loved that Jeep. We literally wore it out (500,000km).
We currently have a 2000 Grand Cherrokee Ltd 4.7L and use it to tow our 23ft. We've been through the Canadian Rockies with no problems..

Not surprised to hear you say that. I have driven many pick ups and feel the same way. It just doesn't feel right siting that high in the saddle. We towed with a Mini Van for many years and it felt fine as it was somewhere between the height of a car and that of a truck.
Our car on the other hand sits low and has a very secure feel solo or with trailer in tow.
