I've had an Access tonneau cover for 10 years on two different trucks and it is an amazing product. 130 degrees in Arizona to -35 in Idaho and Wyoming; 3-4 feet of snow and all manner of ice; just brush it off or go fast down the road, doesn't matter. Darn thing looks brand new. Very versatile in that it rolls up when you need the bed for tall or odd shapes.

Even though I have an F-250, I added the Firestone air rides and I would definately do that again. Very handy when towing, more stable IMHO.

this is not available with the new diesel except on DRW trucks

the pic posted by pill shows the rear window lip which covers the tail gate OR integrated step...

the Z series looks nicer imo, gives the truck a giant excursion look...

http://cdn.airforums.com/forums/atta...8&d=1151614559

IF the side windows have extra tint/film added along with the back glass,

this blocks 95 of light penetration, creating sort of a 1way view OUT only feature...

http://cdn.airforums.com/forums/atta...6&d=1144027684

this is handy for hiding bodies...

http://cdn.airforums.com/forums/atta...7&d=1193879613

it's doubtful that the TW series has any impact on airflow OVER around the stream...

the bug splatter pattern on the a/s end cap is a clue to this.

also it's not easy to mount a RACK on top of the TW series (bikes/yaks/canoes),

while the Z series is designed with rack/box add ons as a possibility.

IF one needs the extra 3-4 inches of entry height the TW provides that.
_________

the Z looks fast even when not in motion...

http://cdn.airforums.com/forums/atta...5&d=1254871393

the fiberglass tonneau lids typically provide 1-2 inches of cover ABOVE the truck side rails...

but coatings, carpet, liners, wheels or stuff placed UNDER the genset will raise it some...

so measure the clearance carefully and with the gotchas in mind.

cheers

Don't remember if I already mentioined this JSF, but have you sat in the NEW Superduty with a moonroof? We have the exact same build minus the seats<KR>,nav, and 350.I ordered mine with all the other options....there is little to no headroom. If I could go back and change it I probably wouldn't,..but that is the only complaint I have about the new Superduty.

These new 6 speed automatic's are geared a lot lower. Here's a comparison with some of the older TorqShifts and other trucks in their tow package setup. The gear ratio shown is the gear * diff giving the effective ratio.

It's Offical - No Tonneau Cover For John...

Just got back from the Ford dealership and the measurements are in....

Yamaha EF3000iSEB Height - 23 inches highest point
Ford F-350 Bed Depth - 19 inches on "ridge" or 20 inches in between "ridges"
Extra 2-3 inches from height of tonneau cover as selected (A.R.E. model)
Bed mat - add 1 inch to height of generator
Equals "Ballpark Depth of Bed 22-23 inches when tonneau cover closed" with the top of the generator approx measurement at "24 inches when sitting on mat"... - Game Over

JUST TOO DARN CLOSE - give or take an inch or two in either directoin as I was not using a laser level, I feel I'm just too close with the measurements to be spending all that money on a tonneau cover (with bed mat) only to have a generator that I just purchased last week to be too tall to fit...

So - I make the call in the morning to "Cab World" and order an A.R.E. topper - question is which model?

Guess the good news is that I'll get more "functionality" with a topper...

Pictures provided by 2Air' & Shane place the A.R.E. "Z" model comfortably in the lead (surprised at how good it looks - a picture really is worth 1,000 words) and I love 2Air's "1-way" mirror effect with use of some darker tint for the topper to keep peepers from "casually" peeping in...

Any and All comments appreciated!!!

Do the side smaller vent windows swing out on the A.R.E. "Z" model?

Also the Garage fit on the height would be the ONLY answer I would need. Also the Z is the most clean looking.

Would be nice if the cap manufacturers had an option for a rear wiper with washer.

Do you know if the swing out side windows would allow an approximately 3" round cord head to pass through the windows (assuming the screen could be removed)?

One other item on your list if you still have time to make a change is adding the "snow plow option" which costs $80 and adds a heavier spring and shock to the front which will level the truck out. Even if you never plan on adding a snow plow (which I don't either) it was one of the best options for the money I spent.

Ordered A.R.E. Z Series Topper

A.R.E. Z Series Topper
Tilt Down Sliding Front Window
SV Vented Window Package
12 Volt Dome Light
Remote Keyless Entry
Carpeted Headliner

Thanks to everyone for their comments - especially the pics of the SuperDuty CrewCab trucks with an A.R.E. Z Series installed - I think this will look pretty nice plus be more functional...

At least that's what this "Old Man" is going to keep saying to himself
