I've owned German cars (VW golfs and an Audi allroad) and lovedlovedloved them! But the repair costs.......
I'd also like 500+ftlbs of torque.
I'm needy.
Back on topic - I have heard that the Cummins in this Titan is still a possibility for the Tundra, and Toyota has not excluded it as a possibility for the Sequoia. Nissan has said no Cummins in the next Armada.

SUVs are old hat. Buyers want crossovers now. Remember when the Explorer was all over the place. I hardly see one now. Trucks rule. I'm turning my Ram 2500 CC into an "SUV" by installing an ARE Series Z cap with a Bedrug bed liner.

I don't know about that, I sure see quite a few SUVs here (and trucks) not many crossovers. Toyota is stopping production on the Venza after this year but the Highlander, 4Runner and RAV4 are going strong. But none of them are very good TVs. I like my 4Runner but that's when they put a V8 in them. Now, they are these big but anemic vehicles. If this one ever wears out I'd love to see that small diesel in a 4Runner with the frame that mine has. Second choice would be to do what you are doing, put a cap on a pickup. (sigh)

I watched that TFLTruck video a few days ago. Not compelling mileage, though they seem to like the way it drives. For what the beast weighs the payload is just OK, I kinda expect a truck that's 7k lb empty to carry significantly more than a Silverado or F150 and it's not really there. Maybe later when they offer it with a lighter gas engine? They didn't really say much about how it LOOKS. If I wanted a less-than-HD diesel I still think the RAM is the one, even with less torque, HP and payload than the Titan.

When we discovered that the 2007 Mercedes ML320 CDI diesel axles were overloaded towing a camping ready 2013 25FB International Serenity with the wife and some stuff in the car, I wanted to acquire one of the last of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500HD Cummins without the DEF issues. I was willing to buy anywhere for the specifications I wanted which included the extended heated tow mirrors, rear camera, limited slip rear differential and rear Park Sense for the wife.
The sticker price for our Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 was $54,375 with a base price (for gasoline engine) before options of $40,545. It was built in June of 2012 and had sat on the dealer's lot for nearly six months as it had too many options. It was the last 2012 2500 with Cummins series in stock. The drive it home price was under $40k.
This new truck from Nissan has the new small V8 designed by Cummins. Cummins has had many issues with their V8 designs over the years. Their straight 6 cylinder engines have been nearly bullet proof for decades.
I would see how things pan out by the third model year.....

The local news cast was interviewing the local dealer that got Truck #1 stated that they had waited for an extended period to get the wrinkles worked out for this design.
I'm gonna wait. If it had been a derivative of the thunkin' straight 6...

You can find Cummins 3.9l four cylinders around, but they are old technology. A little unrefined, very heavy. Just a 5.9 with two cylinders missing.

So I just had a look at a Titan XD SV at the local dealership, and by look, I mean at the door sticker. This model is second from the bottom of their lineup, so less content than the others, but this particular truck had quite a few options.
Payload was 1594 pounds. This is only 200 more than our Tundra so I don't think that would enough of an improvement for our liking, but others may think differently.

I have only seen one on the road so far.
Pricing at $63,000 is too much.
Not a game changer. Not even a player.
I could replace my Tundra Limited with a new Platinum for maybe $50,000, but at 51,000 miles we'll keep rollin'- not time yet-

$63,000 will get you a new Silverado High Country HD2500 Duramax/Allison 4x4.
Titan is still a just a half-ton truck with gooseneck ball in the bed.
Or $50,000 will get you any brand top-of-the- line half ton.
Still not even in the game.
2004-2015 Titan never was in the game.
Even Tundra barely in the game, but for sure closer to being in the game than Titan.
Just driving around day yo day I see many more Tundras than Titans.

Well, the $63k Titan XD is MSRP for the most pimped out Platinum Version. Because it is new, the dealers are actually holding out for MSRP because there is quite a bit of pent-up demand from the Nissan community.
Once the initial cadre of "gotta have one at whatever the cost" has disappeared, the truck price will be negotiable like anything else on the road.
The middle of the road SV trim, with the Cummins diesel and some decent goodies on it prices at about $47k on the Nissan website. That truck specs out at 12000# towing with just under a ton of payload. I am not a diesel guy, so I am waiting for the specs on the gas version of the truck (allegedly available mid-summer).
I am, unabashedly, a Nissan Titan fan. My 2004 Titan has towed my 31' Sovereign over 65000 in the past ten years with zero failures and zero drama. I have about four grand in maintenance/upgrades over that period. The truck is still quiet, responsive and reliable. I will say that the clear coat has failed completely and it is ugly.
For me, the new XD gives me more payload and more torque (both engine versions) wrapped in Nissan realiability.
We'll see how it turns out. I am in no hurry as my 2004 is running like a Swiss watch even though I approach 200000 miles.
Mike

I thought $70,000 was max MSRP, but I don't know that for a fact.
Just hearsay-
Reduce the price 10K-
It still isn't a game changer or major player-
Nice truck?
Absolutely!
It just ain't MY truck.

OK.
There's one on the local Nissan lot.
$55,000
But it's ugly though...
and the fit and finish of panels sucks...

Hi from AZ. . . I just drove the Titan with a Cummins V-8 today, & I thought it was a pretty nice truck. And by the way, pimped out Tundras, Fords, Rams, etc are pushing $60k. I'd probably give it some time to work out any bugs, as with any new package, but I see no reason NOT to consider it. I had Nissan 4WD trucks for years & they were good trucks. I'm happy with my Ecoboost Ford, but it seems foolish not to look at the competitors. . . just sayin. . .Craig
