Curious, what were your actual weights compared to mfg listed curb weights?

Curb weight = 5409 (includes 150 pound driver

Scaled weight after installing spray in bed liner. Stainless assist steps, mud flaps, and soft tonneau = 5720 pounds. I weigh 180 so accessories weigh 281 pounds.

Edit: there were a few other items included in that 281. A road emergency kit, air compressor, and thule roof rack feet and bars.

I've got mine!

Nissan Titan XD SL

Towing capacity: 11,638.2 lb.
Max Tongue weight 1,163.8 lb.
Max payload: 1,588 lb

I've been towing our 2013 27 Classic with a 2006 Dodge Durango -- it had a towing capacity of 8950 lb. and a payload of 1600 lb.

Our previous trailer was a 2007 Safari and the Durango did the trick, but struggled a bit with the 27 Classic. The Durango with its 5.7 Hemi gave us 88,000 mostly trouble free miles with the exception of a couple of computer problems, with the last issue being an intermittent dead electronics, wouldn't start.

Looking forward to the new Nissan -- drove a bunch of trucks, the XD is a perfect fit for us.

The empty truck curb weight numbers are often based upon a nearly non-existent driver today, one weighing ONLY 150 pounds.

No kidding! I had heard several years ago that the standard was going to change to 175....but it never happened. Even that is probably below the average today.

200 lbs is much more likely the average as I look around the world I live in. I'm tipping the scale at 220..... would like to get back to 200.

Having a heavy truck isn't always a bad thing. All that mass up front on the TV can help control the trailer. Ever try towing 10,000 with a 5,000 lb truck? the trailer tends to have more of that control than the tow vehicle which is never a good thing. It would be nice to see the curb weights a little lower though.

Any idea what the GCWR is? probably in the owners manual...

Not true. It is the stability of the truck that controls the trailer, and that is where to put your money. It is excess truck weight that can be hard to control when things go wrong.

There's a lot more to the answer but too far off topic.

Everything else being equal, the extra weight of the TV (relative to the trailer) helps with overall stability. In another thread, someone posted a technical publication with this conclusion.

When this is overcome, loss of control is more likely to happen.

I'm just saying having a larger (HEAVIER) truck isn't gonna hurt. Sure there are a lot of other things to consider. But in more of a general terms, I would rather have a 10,000 lb TV than a 5,000 lb TV with a big heavy trailer... that's all.

the Titan does seem heavy at 7000+lbs, but its got a lot to offer. Larger fully boxed frame, bigger brakes ect... all that stuff adds weight. Its certainly heavier than an F150 or a chevy 1500, but its to be expected I think, since they are claiming/marketing it as beefier truck.

I saw this same data on Nissan's website. It did not match the vehicle I saw on the dealer's lot. In this chart the Platinum Reserve's 4x2 payload is listed at 1,676 lbs. The one that I saw was 1,444 lbs on the door sticker. It's another example of advertising not matching reality.

To be fair to Nissan, all automakers do that: publish the maximum payload, which is only available for a vehicle with no options/accessories. Published payloads are useless as they are always more than the door sticker number, which matters. Our GL has a published payload of around 1450#, however, the door sticker says 1150#. I weighed the vehicle on a CAT scale and by subtracting the measured curb weight from GVWR got 1200# - within 50# of the door sticker, which is accurate enough.
