In the January 2005 issue of Trailer Life, there is an excellent supplemental guide included that covers almost all the basics needed to fully and very clearly understand all the items involved in selecting the proper tow vehicle. The guide also covers most of the tow ratings for the major brands out there for the 2005 model year.
If you are an experienced tower, it's a great refresher...if you are new to towing or are "on the ropes", this guide is a MUST read. For only $4 retail, it really packs a lot of great info. I highly recommend it!
I agree. We keep last year's Towing Guide from Trailer Life 2004 in the Airstream for reference. I think I'll put this one in the truck. This is full of valuable info for the newbie or experienced--a quick reference when needed. Keep it in a handy place.

I was more interested in the description of the Micropluse tank monitor, which is what we have in the Safari. It states on page #72, in the main mag, that it is ---self-calibrating --. Also the article in the towing guide, regarding brake controllers and how they operate. Page #33 describes Timer-Based vs Proportional brake controllers and is very interesting.
Best,
Since I rarely buy new I like to keep the old issues of TL with the tow ratings. I find it a handy refererence. I'll have to go back and look at the article on motor oil even though I use synthetic in the autos and Rotella in the diesel and it would take a lot to convince me to change.

Best,
I read that article as well with some fair skepticism.
