oh wow...dang!! as list sticker?? If this is the case, I would consider buying there perhaps even next week....that is way below the edmonds, truecar and such other estimates...I could bounce offers off local dealers with these numbers too

They are selling these on Carmax used with nearly that price ????

Look on Kirk Brothers Ford Greenwood, MS website. Mthere were 3 F150s and 2 F250s lined up with that price on the windshield in yellow numbers. Maybe they are having a sale or clearing the lot for the 2014s. The F150s were XLTs which are pretty loaded except for leather seats.

After a while those sleepless nights will get to you and you will buy a trailer- so you can get some sleep- in it.

man, you have no idea.....or yeah, maybe you do....

Im pretty close now...now we have settled on the 30' flying cloud we think...why not eh? Wife did not like the classic (although parts of it i like better)....serenity was too glitzy we thought, but i liked it too...

The flying cloud 30' should be great - not crazy about the bunkhouse model - giving up a living room and all.

My wife is excited about pulling the trigger and getting out camping, but as far as feeling a need to be choosy about which AS, she is almost entirely hands off...

I spoke to her about going to colonial AS while we were at the in laws...this would take up half a day of the few days we will be up there....she balked and said I should just make the decision and she feels that based on the photos alone she feels good about the choice...

Ive watched a ton of video tours, tons of photos...but it bugged me that she is so laisez fair about this....but I should not over-analyze I guess...I do that at times.

Im conflicted on how to proceed....foley has some that are on order for september....talking to them, It would be helpful to think about soon stating the model and options we want and he can get it done for us....then its about price I guess...

We will not go to NJ till end of July...not sure if the special orders will still be available for september...

I probably should cool the jets and just wait to go to colonial...but part of me wants to tell foley to work up what I want and give me a final price...if it was a good price as compared to what colonial would give, then I could just pull the trigger now and finalize the sale in september...by that time I would have my car port situation worked out as well I think.

OR, I wait to look at the models in person end of july and just see what happens at that point...I just hate waiting around for the "pickins" I guess

You should also check out truecar.com for what customers are paying for their new vehicle purchase.

With kids the bunkhouse could be best.

We might have 300 Express/Savana vans at work. We have bought at least 6 this year at about $27,500 each.

Another prediction: PharmGeek will find a campground and stay the night on the way home with the trailer.

I keep wondering this....but ya know...I just cant figure if I like the compromise...with the couch, that can be a bed, you still have dinette as well..I will just need to look at the bunk model in person at colonial and make the final determination...sit in each for a while...I plan on lounging in airstreams for hours that day and think about it.

The other aspect of course is wondering what a 6 year old, 10 year old 15 year old will enjoy more...the bunkhouse may end up being more appreciated by my kids...but there are obvious benefits to having that space more open and with a couch for lounging, entertaining....

heh heh, thought crossed my mind.....pick up an AS, and the TV...then drive home instead of fly home...then only a one way drive trip rather than a 2 way driving trip.

If folks order from a dealer far away, how is that usually handled? Do folks drive there and tow it home? I hear there is such a thing as delivery, but how is it delivered? Silly question perhaps...

Not quite endorsing. Just sharing real world experience about why the Chevy vans have worked out better for our company than Fords- real world experience that might help someone else choose a better tow vehicle or avoid a headache. You already know what I think is an awesome tow vehicle...it is also my opinion that the interior trim, fit and finish and quality of materials is slightly higher on the Chevy vans. They do look nicer, as well, and drive better. I have said that my neighbor 2 doors up tows his Airstream with an Econoline, but it is an old one, maybe from the 90's. It might have a 351 or 302 and a C6 for all I know, but it has definitely hung in there better than the new ones.

Converting a jack knife sofa into a bed is one thing. Converting the dinette is a whole other ballgame. It is too much work for me. Even when sleeping on the couch I don't bother making it into a bed. I just sleep on the couch as is.

What is "jack knife sofa"

Is it the sofa that is used in new AS's that fold into a bed?

They also have like an l-shaped "sofa" that is a bit different it seems

Another observation on Express vs. Econoline- the short and long Express are on different wheel bases- the long one moves the rear wheels further back for better load handling and towing. The Econoline short and long ride on the same wheel base with the long one having an extra foot and a half of van hanging further out behind the rear axle. This makes the rear sit and the front go up when loaded or hitched to a trailer. A weight distributing hitch may overcome some of this, but it has an easier job on the Express.

The 6 Express vans we have bought since April get their first 6 oil changes and tire rotations free.
