Lol, vintage. yes, the propride shanks are adjustable and they shipped mine with a larger than normal drop.

A little anal around here about the 5mos of Winter lay-up.
Airstream gets put up on stands, tires off, tongue, AC, skylight and FF vents covered. Hensley off.
Freezing temps, rain and snow all contribute to problems I'd rather not have to deal with.

Wow, Bob, that's some winterization routine! We don't get much in the way of freezing temps and, when we do, they usually don't come with precipitation.

I'm just hoping to have the time to put the ProPride on soon! Maybe after work now that the days are getting longer.

Well, I got it about halfway on this evening before I had to come in to put the kids to bed, and by then, I'd lost the light. Here's hoping that the rain holds off tomorrow!

Okay, it's all hooked up and I took a little trip to the scales. I've already moved the drop up one hole from the first picture and, given the tilt still in the trailer (see second photo), I'll probably move it up one more.











Now for the strange thing: the weigh slips.

I should point out that, after weighing (set up shown in picture 2, above) I cranked up the WD jacks more.

Look's pretty darn good!!! How does it handle?
Might be nice to get 75lbs or so more on the steering axle.

Not that familiar with the ppp, but with the Arrow I run the chains crossed inside the bars.

It handles great. It was MUCH better on the return trip after I adjusted the hitch bar and added more height on the WD jacks.

The 3/4 ton definitely pulls better than the 1/2 ton. It just cruised along, going up and down hills with no drama.

I've got the chains running on the inside of the bars but not crossed. Is it important to cross them?

This is going to be a great towing combination. As I am still breaking it in for towing I was keeping the speed at 50. As a result I was passed my a LOT of big trucks. It never swayed or pulled or anything. I'm also getting pretty good at hitching and unhitching. Once one gets the hang of it, it's easier than a traditional hitch.

The tongue of the trailer looks like it might be sitting down just a tad compared to the back but it looks close enough. Going up one more hole on the drop shank might either be perfect or a tad too high.

That's my thinking as well. Given that it's pretty easy to adjust, I'll probably change it and see how it looks. I really do like how the PP handles!

I've never tested the theory but the consensus is to cross them and have the chains long enough to allow turning but short enough to cradle the tongue if separated.

NEVER twist them to shorten and run your breakaway cable to a secure spot NOT on the hitch. I use one of the latch's on the Burb lift-gate.

I also "twist-tie" the cover lock on the 7-way plug and run the cable thru one of those d-ring spring pin's for the tongue latch.

That's great advice, I was wondering how to keep the cable from getting fouled up in the hitch head while driving! That's a great idea with the zip-tie on the connection, too. I admit to being a little underwhelmed with the sturdiness of the little plastic catch on the backside of the connector cover.

My first AS repair was the replacement of the trailer 7-way plug after it separated from the TV on the way home from the dealer, didn't notice the red light on the BC 'til it was to late, ground it down nicely....lesson learned.
