New TV: 2008 Suburban LT3, 3/4 ton

On May 31st we purchased a 2008 Suburban LT3, 3/4 ton, 6.0L V8, 3.73 axel ratio with the heavy-duty handling/trailering suspension package for a towing capacity of 9,700 pounds. Prior to towing, we are getting 13 MPG in combined city/freeway driving.

The Suburban replaces our Mercedes-Benz ML350 tow vehicle. We just had the hitch adjusted to the correct height and are ready for our first trip with the new tow vehicle to the Grand Canyon for ten days. Here are a couple of photos:

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

Great looking rig! Being a Suburban freak, you couldn't have made a better choice.

I will be interesting to hear how different this is from the ML. We have considered an ML oil burner but just cann't get past the wheel length. Also trade in's on 2500HD GMC's is a little down.
We only use the tow mode to help slowing down, step grades to keep the turbo from kicking in, long grades to hold it back.
Good luck, I think you will really like all the room and power.
