New Truck Test

Found this interesting. I'm not pro one truck over another, nor am I a dealer. Just wanted to share this info to other fine AS owners.

I saw this yesterday. The only caveat is the video is produced by Ford (or their affiliates), so the results should be taken by a grain of salt. Not that F150 is not a great truck

Interesting video. Very impressive show by the Ford. I never knew that it was important to race up a hill while towing a trailer. I guess it is to appeal to the testosterone thought process in me. I'd bet that the RAM was EGT limiting in the (wrong) gear selected. It would be a better test (in my eyes) to see these three do a 1,000 mile test tow in varying conditions and report things such as fuel cost.

Video is clearly a commercial for Ford. There is a reason science bases decisions on double blinded tests. Most trucks designed for towing are all capable of doing the job. It really comes down to personal preference. I'm not a mechanical or engineering expert - I do medicine. All these trucks are designed by good engineers who are balancing many factors to achieve performance vs cost. The differences are usually very minimal.

Yeah I tend to agree with 'Top'. Test are hard to conduct. A driver may know how to get a little more out of an engine and what gear to be in. There are so many variables. Heck the Dodge (ram) programmers could go in and remap that diesel and get more out of it.(maybe not)
Maybe people might like that high RPM stuff from a little motor.
I do like a lot of free revving RPM when on my Triumph and its cool in my IS350. I don't like high RPM in my truck.
Its cool if you pay for the test, you should win it.
I will have to find my favorite video of a test.
Have a good one!

The road to Davis dam proper, 2 to 3 miles long, an access road just off 68, to Kathrine's landing on Lake Mojave in the Lake Mead Rec area is in a 45 speed zone. This "test" was on hwy 68, Bullhead City to Kingman. About 16 miles to the summit from the last traffic light from BHC @ Davis camp. Look at the shadows thrown from the "test", not quite high noon, looks like morning. Which would keep most of this section in the shade until 9am+/-.
Where are those Mythbuster guys when you need them?

We phoned Ford trying to enter that test, but I think they were afraid to return our calls.

The worst part is the location of the trailer jack when bending over to check the oil!

Seriously though-
What is the payload and towing capacity of a VW Transporter?

I'm wondering how my F-250 with the infamous 6.0L PSD would have fared... one gallon of coolant spilled, or more? (Yes, I'm frustrated with it.)

With approximately seventy two cubic inch, and 36 hp, read it and weep!

Love that Transporter! Have you entertained the thought of putting a Porsche engine in the rear of it? When I was very young, a few years back, helped a fellow VW enthusiast, install a Chevy Corvair engine in a VW van. Ran pretty good. Sorry to get off-topic, was overwhelmed by the Transporter.
