New tow vehicle... how's my wheelbase?

Hi guys! Although not an AS, I did make a trailer recently to carbon offset my gas mower....

I mow the grass at our rental, and felt bad about the gas used to just get there about a mile away... sooooo.........

What do you think? No sway control or WD... seems to handle ok...

My god! Those aren't Marathons on that mower are they? You'll burst into flames if you move so much as an inch....

What, no brakes on the trailer?

No equalizing hitch like a Hensley?

No running gear balance?

Boy oh boy, are you in for a rough ride.

That tandem is going to be too stiff of a ride for the trailer!

Why is it that everyone is looking at negatives?
Your wheelbase is perfectly proportioned to trailer size and weight to eliminate uncontrollable sway at highway speeds.
Very good job in designing and building a towing system!

Hi, about the only questions not asked are; What about horsepower, torque, and rear axle ratio.

Andy, you disappointed me. The photo clearly show that his axels are shot- on the bike, the trailer and the mower! How could you have missed that?

Buddy, I too want to go green so use a Mini Van instead of a gas guzzler to get my 48" lawn mower around. No harm in getting green...

And from the looks of it in the photos, your trailer needs new axles! (I can't believe Andy didn't use that one)

Holy Cow! HOW do you get that mower into the van?? How's the back? I'm assuming you have a ramp or two...

Funny, I think the mower has more HP then me! It actually "tows like a dream"... I air up the tires (load range A) and stay below 20 mph on the flats.... I do start to rev like crazy to get up the one small hill.... (in 3rd of 27 gears... ).

Shot axles? Unbalanced running gear? Well, I do have flat feet!

Oh yes, my rear end ratio depends on how much I've eaten that week!

Marc - storing extra gear on the back end is not recommended. This can lead to 'tail droop".

I think if you look closely, you will see filiform corrosion on the trailer.

You don't need to worry about sway control or WD, and forget about a Hensley Hitch.
Your hitch point is forward of the rear axle, so you're really running more like a fifth wheel. You're good to go!

I'm surprised you all missed the true motive power: the mower self-propel pushes the tandem bike via roller and belt drive to the trailer wheels.

And, that the mower is a KUBOTA, with a diesel, natch.

(As a fourteen year old I had to walk the mile to my farthest customers of a lawn-mowing business, pushing both lawnmower and edger [that wouldn't follow the same track]. Mom wasn't firing off that 428-4V FORD for such a short trip. But, of course, we were in Texas. No one has ever seen a bicycle like that, here. That's some kinder Commernist thing, ain't it?).

Touring...

Heh heh... yes, that filiform corrosion is in a "thatchy type" pattern....

I get quite the look pulling the mower around... people really whip their heads around...

As for the "circus bike" (my term), it's a Bike Friday (it actually converts to a Triple as well from a tandem)... made here in the good 'ol USA in Eugene OR. It comes with a trailer kit to tow it's own suitcase - it packs up for travel. I actually took it to Germany with us last year... fun to tour the small villages with - JUST LIKE WALLY! But, like Wally with his VW powered TV pulling his Bambl... I was a bit underpowered with the two girls on board....

I haven't laughed that hard at anything I've read on here in a long time.
