J2807 is designed to force conclusions, not to answer questions. There is an enormous difference therein.

Second update:

I set up my old 'Equalizer' hitch and used it on my last trip up the mountains.

Observations:

The whole setup is more stable from the 'seat of pants.' Essentially no sway or instability noted under any conditions. Don't know if this is more in my mind though.

The truck rides harsher with the hitch in place. The trailer also seems to ride a bit more harshly based on 'out of order' things found at the end of the trip.

Based on these observations, I'm thinking that an AirSafe hitch in combination with some sort of anti-sway device may be the best combination.

As an FYI, I find the varying opinions regarding this topic interesting based on the target forum/audience:

Thumbs up

They kept mentioning "sway bars",(friction?), wonder just what kind of hitch they were talking about? One thing for sure they weren't towing Airstream's.
I believe they were letting the dual rear wheels do the thinking.

Sway control is such a minor expenditure after buying an Airstream, I can't understand why it's even an issue.

Now the Air-safe hitch....that would be a BIG improvement for the 3500.
