New tires - recommendation
I needed a set of new tires for our Odyssey.
After talking to both Andy and my local tire shop - run in the third generation by a Portuguese family stubbornly refusing to have their shop gentrified away - I decided to go with Yokohama AVID Ascend tires.
Andy had recommended the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread in a 55, but in the end I didn't want to change the tire size - it confuses the onboard computer and, more importantly, the Honda ABS doesn't like it. According to my tire guy, the Yoko has even better grip than the Goodyear, and a higher load rating.
The Honda takes P235/60R17 tires. What makes the Ascend so useful for towing is that it comes with a 103 load rating, 1929lbs per tire. After the switch the ride was a little rougher, due to the very stiff sidewalls, but not excessively so - my wife didn't even notice. Grip was excellent too, when leaving the CanAm forecourt there's a little slippery strip where we always had a little spin with the old tires, but not this time.
I towed our trailer from London to her summer quarters near Toronto today and the tires were excellent. Arrow straight tracking and 100% stability - it was a quiet, steady tow.
If you're looking, this might be an option worth exploring.
Here's a link to the model I bought: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odClar=Touring
On the scales today. With full water, fresh propane and everything five people need to camp she came in at 7500 lbs.

Thanks for the review, that's good information.
I have Yokohama Geolanders on the Tundra and have been very happy with them, I would definitely consider Yoko's for my other vehicles when I comes time to buy more tires, the seem like good value for the price.
Right now I different tires on everything I own! between summer, winter and trailer tires I have 38 tires in service!
I currently run:
Yokohama
Bridgestone
Goodyear
BF Goodrich
Hankook
Michelin
Pirelli
Powerking

Do you still like your dueler tires? I'm looking at those and the General tire Grabber hts. I'm putting a new set on my 2005 sequoia. I had the grabbers on my 2002 Sequoia and loved them until I started streaming. I then switched to the hts e rated tires which helped while towing, but otherwise too stiff. Now I have a 2005 Sequoia with some factory updates over the old 2002. It has p265/65r17 nitto tires that came with on my 2005 and they handle great while towing and just running around town. I'm tempted to go back to the grabbers in hopes that the towing difference between the two sequoias is due to the upgrades and not so much the tires. But I've heard great things abut the duelers too. Thanks.

Yes, the Duelers are holding up fine.
Now I need tires on the trailer.
Options.
1. Buy 15" Michelin MS/2 in the town where we are camping
2. Try to buy 16" zero offset wheels and Michelin LT tires
3. Put the spare on and go home, then order wheels and tires off the coast bternet?

Just an update. I stuck with Nitto's and went with Nitto Dura Grappler Highway Terrain 265/65R17 112T that have a load capacity of 2469 lbs @ 44psi. Think my mileage has suffered slightly, but they handled great on our 4000 mile trip to Yellowstone this summer.

My Tundra has 20" wheels. The 17" wheels are probably actually better for towing, but I got what I got-

20" rims vs. 17" or 18"
I am looking at a new 2015 TV that comes with 20"rims and P275R20 tires in the configuration I want. I'm concerned not only about losing a smoother ride over my current 18" tires but also what affect the much smaller sidewalls may have on trailering. I'll admit I am a real newbie to Streaming and trailers in general so I would appreciate any input from experience or research from anyone out there before I pull the trigger on a very expensive TV replacement.

I have towed 5 years with 20" wheels.
I've had no ill side effects, but I believe a smaller wheel might be better because I cannot find an LT tire in my particular size. Next time I might look at ties 10 mm larger for an LT tire. I think LT tires are more readily available in 17 or 18" sizes.

Got these coming this week...The first set has been on since new, sticking with what has werked gud for 55k.
Michelin - LTX M/S2 LT265/75/16, local Family owned shop that will match any deal you can get anywhere, PLUS
(FWIW, no N for me)
I know it just sounds like a hook thats TGTBT but I've used them almost exclusively over the years with great luck.
Support local business, you can't shake hands with the interweb....

My new tires were bought locally, but I mounted, balanced, and installed them myself.
$17.50 + tax x 4 I get to go campin' with-
Also, since I did not leave any old tires, they took iff the $4 tire disposal fee- another $16 + tax for campin' money-

I found a tire remanufacturer in Houston called TreadWright.
High quality casings, commercial truck rubber, less than half the cost of new. Ordered a set for the wifes Yukon and should be here tomorrow. They have load range D and E with various sizes and tread patterns. It's worth a look.

The dealer will probably be more than happy to swap for 18's off a lower trim. I am currently shopping and have had several dealers say, "no problem". The demand for 20's is a lot higher because of the look. But, not many "E" choices in that size, so I am going with 18's.
