"Older" Dodge truck recall
Hi, shouldn't your title say "New recall for 2001 - 2002 Dodge trucks"? So owners of brand new Dodge trucks don't freak out.

Bob, your are right - if a MOD would change it that woud be a help. It is a "recent" recall and that was my reason for the posting. Thank You.

Thanks for letting us know, Michael.
I guess I should wait until January to try to get the fix. I hate it when I'm at the dealership and know more about my vehicle than they do.

Cummins
I too am glad for the clarification on NEW.
I bought a Cummins that just happens to have a Dodge built around it.

They had one for my '04 last year that was similar.
Seems it is possible to get it almost into park, and hop out but it's not really in park. So you get out and it falls into reverse.
How do they fix it? They flash the computer to blow the horn and flash the lights if you open the door and the truck isn't solidly in Park. Only glitch, if you back up to, say, hitch a trailer, and open the door to get a good look, all heck breaks loose!
It's not reversible either; at least that's what the dealer told me. Said they did the mod for a guy and he came back a week later and cussed them up one side and down the other when they told him they couldn't reverse it. It's a permanent ECU flash.
I told them no thanks. I'll make sure it's in Park.
