thought we'd lost another powerstroker to the antler clan....

ok, it IS just a 'news' post and order has been restored.

although IF they'd just add an integrated brake controller...

and i love the side bed boxes, i really want these bad....

Really.....whats wrong with a change now and then....besides, like henw said, we got to help Detroit, in order to do that, we have to spread the business around a bit...but seriously:

Since we just shot our wad on a 2008 Dodge Ram, the 2009 Ram update was of interest, I am pleased to see the new model has some resemblence, but certainly it looks more like the current Ford and Toyota trucks. In fact, the Dodge designers were using the Ford dimensions, proportions and scale as a guide during the design process. The higher beltline is one of the more obvious clues.

I still prefer the current (08) Ram design, very truck. I am glad I didn't wait for the 09, but I am sure that others would prefer the new, more refined look.

The interior and option list has improved dramatically, the gassers will like an improved Hemi, a bit more power but supposedly much better fuel economy.

This is my first impression, but, does it seem that many of the new designs for cars and trucks are all merging into non-distinct vehicles?

I like the tool box but it wouldn't work with a truck cap. I also like the increased Hemi power and the front end does look a little better.
I find it interesting that they are using coils on all 4 wheels. I'm not sure if I like it because the leaf springs are so reliable.

Very nice, the "Ram Box" is cool...wonder how much bed space it eats up? I am packed pretty tight now with a 6.5' bed when we are locked and loaded...

I am also very surprised there is no mention of factory brake controller as everyone else is doing it already.

Time, I never worry about buying what is on the horizon...there will always be a new and improved.
Buy a new truck when you need it...you can't just keep waiting for the next model...
Your new truck is very nice...no worries-and good luck.
(I feel terrible about what you went through with the Frrrd diezel...hopefuly they get that straightened out with their "new and improved")

Despite the cost of fuel-it sure is a good time to be a Detroit "Truck Guy"!

Greetings..I'm new to this forum and don't even own a Airstream yet. But i decided to join this forum, ask some questions and get to know them a little better.
I am hoping you guys can answer some questions for me.
Now as far towing is concerned, Is Dodge CTD the best? and what about the brake controller i was reading about? Presently i have a Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 LTR V-8 which is not capable of towing anything you guys have so any input on the matter will be great.

Its good to see a new design for Dodge. I looked at them in September but found the ride quality to be very rough. The 4 coil suspension may solve the ride issues many complain about. The interior looks great.

Question, are the long wheel base trucks much harder to drive, backing up, small campgrounds ect? I can get a brand new 2007 dodge megacab xlt for 28700. It has the 5.9l, so the mileage is much better with no problems like some of the new ones. I'm on the fense with this one, i'll get killed on my trade, but i don't want to plop down that much cash and keep the one i have now, 2007 chev silverado, 5.3. crew cab. I know the bigger ones track better, but i was wondering are they more of a pain to drive? Thanks George

I went shopping for an extended cab with 6.5' box. Ended up with GMC 2500HD crew cab and 8' box. 22' long. The length is not an issue (and often a benefit) except when in parking lots where the spaces are at 90 degrees. Then I have to take a couple shots at it to get square. Otherwise, it is good for moving daughter to college, towing down the road, etc. We love it.

I think you meant a "SLT" Mega cab. Based on some of the Dodge forum chatter, the 5.9 is a great motor and because of the lack of the more progressive emission control, the 5.9 CTD gets better MPG and predicted longer service life than the 6.7 CTD. The downside is less power than the 6.7 CTD and the 5.9 CTD has a 4 speed auto as opposed to the new 6 speed auto. There are a lot of guys who traded their 5.9 for a 6.7 and wish they had not. But there is always two sides to all arguments. It's a tough call, but the price sounds pretty good for a Mega Cab CTD...real nice price.

Just my opinion, but I would pull the trigger if I were in your shoes.

As for the longer wheelbase trucks being harder to drive and back up, the Mega Cab is not the longest out there, it only comes in a short bed so the total length is only 20" longer than the Quad Cab short bed, or a total of 247.9". You will like the longer wheelbase for towing stability.

I purchased a 2007 Dodge Megacab in June and I love it. I had a 1/2 ton Nissan Titan. The Dodge is a 1 ton with the 6.7L, 6 speed auto and it has the factory exhaust brake. I will never go back. The room inside the cab is wonderful, it pulls like a dream and I like the color better

Good choice Brad, the 1 ton does not come with the same emission control as the 3/4 ton. I have heard they are having lots of problems with it.

Where have you heard this? I believe that it is the same Bluetec emissions package on the Cummins.

I heard this from the dodge internet manager i talked to quite a bit, He said the 1 ton and up did not have it yet. He was the most informed person i have ever talked to in any dealership, but it's possible he is wrong.

He even told me things about my engine i didn't know. I'm sure it would be easy to check out if you call the service dept at a dodge dealer. George

After a visit to my local dealers lot today, EVERY 3500 series (1 Ton) truck had the exact same BlueTec package on them, same as the 2500's. Of course, these are all new 2008 6.7l trucks. BTW, if you found a new 07 5.9, congrats on the rare find! Is it new or used? Last I saw, there was a $5500 rebate on all new 07's.
