Good suggestions Bob. I seldom take the Enkays off the drawbar. One could mount a square receiver tube on your wall somehow and slip the entire drawbar with Enkay's into the receiver mounted on the wall. At least it gets it off the floor and allows the mudflaps to hang down. Karma coming your way.

You guys are so handy, an idiot like me taking on over 15k/ miles/year just looks at the rock guards daily and counts more dents. The amazing thing is they have taken all the hits. Knock on wood, not one nick in the trailer. I plan to sell every 3 years so new rock guard before the 4 sale sign are in order. Still, your skirts are pretty cool. I wish all the semi drivers would put them on their trucks like UPS did. Makes a huge differenc passing them in heavy rain.

They bolt right onto my receiver and stay there. Because of the PVC material it is very light weight. I will try to remember to snap a photo tonight when I get home.

This also worked very well along with the Enkay before moving to the Suburban. The issue with the 3/4 tonners (at least GM) is that the leaf springs get in the way and **could** make contact with brackets as I have described and that is why I went the other route with the Suburban.

I have a Sierra 07.5 2500HD and the AS 31 08 is equipped with the Hensley and the bar connector is shaped like an "s". Is there room to mount the Enkay flaps?

hensley USED to offer a stinger that was modified for the nks by adding 1-2 inches of shaft length.

they NO LONGER do this.

instead they have a stinger that is 6 FRIGGIN INCHES longer!

so your trailer will be in a different time zone way back there.

yes you can shorten this ridiculously long stinger and redrill the hole..

but IF you do this, hensley voids the warranty

NOW on the newer nks the routing out of the brass (as david did) is gonna be an issue,

since the center piece is chrome plated aluminum now...

After several good posts and suggestions, and few gin and tonics, I rummaged through my scrap pile and came up with a design that, while I can not claim as entirely my own, is a mixture of several.

Mud flaps from Ebay, $40.00.

I did have to buy a stick of 1”x1” angle at Lowes, and the large U-bolt. That part was a little spendy, but I still have less than $60.00 in the project.

The mount U-bolts to the receiver of the TV, and is very solid. No mods to the TV required. A quick flick of a wrench, and the entire apparatus is in removed, without so much as a hernia. It was simple to build with a hack saw, angle grinder and a cheap wire feed welder. A little spray paint covers a multitude of sin…

As it mounts to the truck side of the equation, it should work with any hitch.

I bought this type as I was concerned about gas mileage and general overspray from under the truck. And I've got this weird thing for UPS trucks.

I am sure the solid rubber stop objects better, but rain water bounces right off. I plan to add two rubber flaps on each side. Or strips of rubber flaps to add strength. Keeping the hairy stuff inside to slow down the slurry.

Love the Enkay hardware. I may try that next.

Also using the Towtector, light weight, easy install, very old fart compatible.

No marks at all on the trailer and oversize rear flaps have prevented any stone chips on the rear 1/4's of the Burb.

Quick question .. Can you use the Towtector with a Hensley Hitch without modifications? Or is it like the Enkay where modifications are needed?

I have a 09 2500 Chevy Duramax and I noticed on their [Towtector] website they specifically say ..

" Note Caution- under bumper rear exhaust will melt brush strips. "

So that means I have to buy the heat shield as well. That adds another $80.

I have the 8.1 in the Burb, good friend owns the local Mufflerman shop, had him weld on a stainless tailpipe extension off to the side, just behind the r/r wheel.

The only thing I had to do on the Hensley stinger was die grind the welds slightly to get some clearance for the clamp mount. I use a Reese class 5 Tow Beast so that might not be needed on your set-up.

Silvertwinkie: I realize this is an old post, but after reading your comments, I am concerned that my 2500 Suburban may not work well with Rock Tamer. I live in Alaska and about to head out on our maiden voyage - and want to protect my Airstream as much as possible! Any additional insights are appreciated!

I built these for my 2500 Ram and attached them to the hitch receiver (holes already there) because the ones that slip over the draw bar, combined with the weight of the drawbar, are too heavy for my bad back. Two bolts and five minutes and they are off, when desired.
