If my memory serves me well the truck/trailer speed limit on this grade is 40 mph (it may even be less). I have taken it many times in our rig and it is very easy to lose control of your downhill speed. Traffic is always thick there which also causes even more confusion (cars going 70-80 mph). This grade is a major white knuckle ride if you are going to fast (much less being an inexperienced tower).

Or perhaps a left hand turn too fast? Just more useless speculation, could not resist. 😈

Maybe they realized they left the bathtub running and we're trying to get back before it overflowed.

Previous poster said it was a right hand turn. Almost every thread on here is useless speculation from people who think they know more than they do. Not referring to any one person just to forum members in general. Me included.

I can remember in the middle 1950's riding up the grade with my dad in his bid truck, most of the diesels at night had a flame coming out of their stacks ( they didn't have turbochargers) It was quite a site..Going up and down with the newer diesel pickups with the exhaust brake towing the trailer is a cake walk now..
