Mirror extensions
I'm still searching for quality mirror extensions for my 2005 tundra. If anyone can help out...... I appreciate it!

I have a 2005 Tundra too,
There's no mirror extensions that work, I tried 3 types and was not happy with any of them. The shape of the mirror makes it difficult to make strap on mirrors stay on. No one makes towing mirrors specific to our truck.
I found a set of used McKesh mirrors at an auction and they work Amazing! They are expensive new, but worth it in my opinion.
Once they are adjusted you can see very well, the Tundra is not a wide truck to begin with and the mirrors can be adjusted for added width.
They are easy to put on and take off and if you remember where on the door they mount (mine attach with the strap just behind the emblem on the door) you don't need to adjust them every time.
Spend the money and get the best, you won't regret it. I do regret the 3 sets of mirrors I bought that didn't work, and the miles I towed with poor visibility.
Tundra is a great truck, my roll down back window makes it really easy to communicate with people giving directions when backing up!

Aero Mirrors
Have you looked at the Aero mirrors from Milencon? I too had tried every kind out there and was unhappy with each of them. The Aero mirrors are not cheap, but they attach easily, don't have to be readjusted each time and are solidly mounted. They also can be moved in or out depending upon the size of your vehicle.

Have you looked to see if there is a CIPA made for that year model? We had CIPAs for a year or more with our 2011 tundra and liked them until we came to close to F-250 on a dark park road and it took off my driver's side CIPA... decided it was time to go with OEM tow mirrors and my dealer matched the internet price from Sparks Toyota online. The only drawback is because i have a base model Tundra, i don't have heat or turn signals on the new mirrors, but they do adjust electrically, so I'm happy.

I agree with Aldeanfan. Mckesh mirrors are what we use and they are great. we had the kind that strapped to the vehicles mirrors and they flew off after a heavy gust from a semi.

Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate it. I don't believe in buying anything that isn't top quality. And, it's crazy that Toyota never made tow mirrors for that model (2006) Tundra. That said, I'll look into the Mckesh and perhaps Aeros. In the mean time I welcome anyone else's comments or suggestions. Thanks again, Mark

Are there not any extendable towing mirrors availabe for first generation Tundras? Second generation Tundras have extendable trailer towing mirrors.

I had the same issue with my Ridgeline. I ended up buying a pair of McKesh mirrors and have been very pleased. They are vibration free, give a huge viewing area, and once properly adjusted go on in about 15 seconds per side, and off in 10 or less. And they don't mar the paint. A great product.

As much as I love the Tundra, there is almost no aftermarket support for the 2006 and earlier trucks, and Toyota did not offer towing mirrors. I got very close to modifying a pair of Dodge towing mirrors to fit the Tundra, but I found the McKesh mirrors first. I guess there are not many Airstream's in Japan.

Another proponent of McKesh Mirrors here...we love them. We can see behind our rig. Wat a concept!

I bought new McKesh mirrors when I got my trailer. I like them but they are a PITA to install. I'm using Aero's now. I think they are Italian....were fairly expensive, but MAN do they work and are they easy to install. Will probably sell the McKesh set.... Think the kind of TV may play a role in this. My Infiniti QX56 seems perfectly happy with the Aero's, but all those straps and things on the McKesh. Not so much.

That's interesting, I find the McKesh mirrors very simple to install on the Tundra, I have not tried on the Flex yet.
Since every vehicle is different the challenge is finding the right combination!

I would keep one thing in mind when trying to decide which ones to get, and that is how much driving you do with the mirrors attached and having to get close to a gate opening pad at a park or parking in close quarters. I have found it very desirable to be able to close my mirrors for parking or getting close to a gate pad. The McKesh ones are good, but do have draw backs.
The Aero's look like a good product. I have been using the K Source 3891 ones for the past 4 yrs. Have put about 15,000 miles on with them. I did have to improvise the straps as they kept breaking within a yr. I made aluminum straps with the rubber straps used under for protection. The next problem I had, and this could be only to my vehicle, was the mirrors would close in once in awhile when traveling at 70 - 75 mph and I would be passing or get passed by a semi. The electric mirrors would not put them back with such a load on them at that speed. So, I then made up some straps that attach under the hood and clip to the mirrors to keep them out. These can to released at the mirror so normal closing can still be used when needed. Just something to think about

I like my aero mirrors. They are a nice compliment to the factory ones. I check both before changing lanes. They are easy to install and remove. I turned mine vertically to see farther back. I have only a couple of hundred miles on them.
