Mini-Van

I'm thinking about buying a Mini-Van in a few months or so. I'm wondering if there are any of the various makes, that can handle towing my 1971 Ambassador? The AS is 29' using bumper to bumper measurements.

I like the Nissan Quest......but I'm open to any brand as long as its not a full-size. We have a 2000 Suburban now, that I tow with. Tows well, but sucks down gas at less than 13 mpg.

I don't think any minivan has a tow capacity of 7100 pounds. The most I have seen is the now defunct Astro, with something like 6500 pounds when properly equipped.

I dont have my last issue of AS Life close, but theirs an advert in their with Mini-Vans towing double axle Airstreams......from an Airstream dealer.

(i haven't weighed this trailer yet, but I've owned 2 others, including a 31' & 22' and neither weighed anywhere near what the tag stated, dry or wet.)

13 mpg towing is pretty good. If it is 13 mpg naked, then your towing mpg will be less than 10 mmpg.

If you are getting 13 mpg towing then I would not think that you would get better than 15 mpg towing with the v6 Quest.

Maximum payload of a Honda Odyssey 1349 pounds - tongue of that 27 or 25 Airstream - lets go easy on the weight and say 900lbs (less for the 27 more if its a 25).

Doesn't leave much for passengers let alone bags but with a ProPride or HaHa setup and only driver (assuming Andy did his magic to the trailer hitch) its possible....

What about our 2008 Cadillac SRX Crossover V6 (fancy talk for station wagon) anyone tow with one of these? Im not about to tow with it anytime soon, but is it a possibility?

A vehicle like the SRX may need special attention if set up for towing. These are the pro's are great at doing just that. Can-Am RV Centre | Your Towing Experts
