mileage versus engine hours, post your tally!

howdy truckies and tv junkies...

hey how about an informal "mileage vs engine hours" poll?

my truck is used almost exclusively for towing...

and an occasional run to 'town' while camping.

on the current 5k trip i topped 50,000 miles and now rest just at just over 52k.

with just over 49k while trailer in tow!

on many/most of the new diesels there is also an "engine hours" meter.

it might be interesting (for the number crunchers) to compare mileage 2 engine hours.

most modern cars have a 'trip computer' and for urban/highway mixed driving the average mph is typically 20-30 mph between tanks.

on the ford psd i've got 1250 engine hours at 52,000 miles...

for an average of 41.6 mph...

considering stopngo, idle while hooking up/parking, warm ups/cool downs, occasional urban zones, curves and other slow rolling...

that seems like a really high average mph 2 me...

so to get to the point, finally,

POST YOUR MILEAGE VERSUS ENGINE HOURS and average mph HERE!

this is likely to be a mostly 'diesel thing' since they have the engine hour counter,

i'd like to read what others have for comparison, but no guessing.

thanks for playing...

and there will be an expensive one of a kind gift for the winner!

2air'

52k miles/1250 engine hours=41.6 mph

If you have a later model Chevy Tahoe, Sub, Sierra you probably have an hour meter even if it's a gasser.

Mine must have some kinda roll over. The overhead shows 54:47 and I have 47662 miles. I think 870 mph is slightly faster than I typically average .

But if it's 1054:47, the I'm around 45 mph which may not be far off since I do a 135 mile daily commute averaging 60 mph.

Just an average, not good or bad.
I reset my average speed at every fill. It's too depressing to see when you drive around Los Angeles. Sometimes I close my eyes while scrolling through the functions, to not start sobbing...I had it down to 13 mph once.
