Looking to purchase

Hello to all. I am looking to purchase my first travel trailer. It is a 1973 31 footer. I am trying to see if my 1996 Ford Bronco will be able to pull this vehicle or if I need to look for a smaller one? The Bronco is a stock vehicle with the 5.0L. Thanks in advance for the help.

That trailer loaded for camping is going to weigh around 6200 Lbs...

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to your question, I don't think that a full size blazer is too big to tow a 31' Airstream. Anything smaller may not be sufficient.

The Blazer is a fairly short wheel base vehicle. As such, I would want a quality weight distribution hitch system. You don't want the Bronco's steering to become adversely impacted by lack of weigh on the front axle.

You will also need to make sure that your Bronco is properly wired for a tandem axle trailer with electric brakes. You will also need a trailer brake controller installed on you tow vehicle.

From Trailers.com

Bronco 5.0 V-8 6600 lb
Notes: Requires automatic transmission. Requires weight-distributing hitch. Requires 3.55:1 axle ratio. Requires Trailer Towing Package. A higher tow rating is listed for pickups that tow fifth-wheel trailers.

Long and short of it: smaller trailer (much smaller) longer wheel based vehicle with more power
