I put something in my oil?

I just did an oil change on my 1998 7.3 Power Stroke Ford.
A friend of mine recommend 25% Lucas oil stabilizer.

I added 25% Lucas and THAN read the back "Lucas Synthetic stabilizer recommended for Ford Power Stroke engines"

Should I drain the new oil with the standard Lucas stabilizer?

Thanks,

Michael

Rivet Oil Additives

Hi Michael,

My gut feeling is that you should be ok. Myself, I am not a fan of additives in the first place. I have always preferred to use quality oil and leave it alone. That might be a good place to go synthetic. The big players, Penzoil, Castrol, Quaker State, Mobil, etc…, spend huge amounts of money on research and quality control. They don’t do it for no reason.

What’s the latest on your trailer? Hope the shock is wearing off.

Why would you put in 25% when Lucas recommends 1 qt per 14 qt oil change? Is more better?

hi michael...

stop! don't start it! your enjun is gonna EXPLODE!

ok, not likely a problem for one short oil interval (3-5k)...

the syn version most likely has a more additives but the msds is too vague...

25% is a LOT and since diesel oil has more detergents and antifoamers and diesel specific additives...

although the lucas data suggests even 60% is 'safe'...

i would really NOT use either lucas product in the oil...

now IF what you want is better lubrication, longer oil intervals, easier starts and blah, blah, blah...

in other words ALL of the things lucas claims to provide...

consider adding one gallon of rotella 5-40 syn to your regular dino oil change...

that's the equivalent of making a 'syn-dino' blend with an absolutely PROVEN and COMPATIBLE product....

i'm using full syn BUT with your mota i'd go 50/50 or 25/70 syn/dino...

how's the paint'n goin' ?

cheers

Michael,

You did not say if you put synthetic oil in the engine or not. I would think you want to use synthetic Lucas with synthetic engine oil.

I have no personal experince with Lucas oil addatives, but have a friend that has been using them religiously for years with good results.

However, I have not been using any oil addatives for years (just use quality oil and filter and change them regularly), and have also had good results. Go figure!
