It will be mine

Although I tow a 25 footer with a 2005 tacoma, and it does a great job. I will own a new Tundra when the time is right. It is awesome

Question how many miles before towing???

Question. I guess this applies to any vehicle but I'm asking in particular with regard to the 2007 Tundra. How many miles does the manual say to drive before you can start towing a trailer? I was going to trade my 4 runner for a Tundra tomorrow but unfortunately I am going on a trip this coming weekend where I need to tow a tandem wheel 8x12 Uhaul. Not all that much weight but I don't want to risk it if its a problem. I will be gone for a few weeks so I may have to wait till I return before I trade for the Tundra. Thanks,

The owners manual says that the break in period is 500 miles. My Tundra forgot to read the book

Nice looking truck Richard. It also sounds like you got a decent deal.

My neighbor keeps bugging me to replace my GMC with a Tundra like his but since we aren't using it for towing (yet) I haven't seen the need to do so. Looking at your picture sure gets me thinking though.

It will be interesting to hear how it tows compared to the old one after you've used it for a while.

Congratulations on your new Tundra. I just made a similar deal with 4WD, TRD, cold kit (bigger battery), etc. Getting harder to find just what I wanted at end of September, so we took "blue streak" instead of silver. Dealer really wanted my '02 Tundra, so we ended up several hundred bucks off national avg. on the new one and I saved $500 on sales tax by doing the trade. I think TRD package has firmer ride though when I test drove one I felt pretty isolated from the highway (more so than the '02's)—sort of like the Sequoias. Incentives ($2500 rebate or 0% financing) end Oct. 2. The 5.7 liter is fast enough to beat one of those "hemis" (of course, just about all engines are hemis for decades, aren't they)

I am in New Mexico at the alloon fiesta right now. The first tow with the new tundra was just great. Plenty of power and handles great. I love the tow mirrors! I did come up on a hemi dude that wanted to race, but I backed off at 80. Ask him about the NM state police....

I was wondering how the first tow went. Glad to hear it is all you dreamed it would be.

The dealer where I bought my Tundra Step Side has offered me a great deal on a new Tundra. He will give me 65% of the MSRP on my truck when it was new, plus $7,000 off the new Tundra I want. My husband, who is working out of town, sincerely believes I won't be able to refuse this. This thread isn't helping my will power.

Juel, check out Edmunds for new and used prices, invoices, etc. Kelley Blue Book has much less information, but worth comparing. I got about 55% of 2002 MSRP for a V8 SR5 with average options for then and scratched paint from using it like a pick up (trees branches while cutting up dead trees are not good for paint). 65% for a 2005 might not be so good. $7,000 of a new one must be a Limited—more room to bargain on those. In Sept., Toyota had $2,500 rebate on SR5's. They add on about $1,600 to invoice for adv. fee, holdbacks, manufacturer to dealer cash; there's a little room for bargaining there, but the dealer won't give up much of that. Considering selling your 2005 privately—better money. I only traded because I got a got price both ways.

Be strong Juel and buy a new one, then post the pix.

Thanks for all of the posts. I drove a new Tundra recently and was shocked at the power and speed. It was terrific. Had concerns about how it might tow... Thanks for the info... We have a 19' Safari.. Shouldn't be any problem at all. We'l keep it in the list of options.

Richard,

You would think that Kevbo..uh, Hemi Dude, would have been ticketed, but right after that incident, I saw him swapping stories with the officer down the road at a cowboy dive bar....typical Kevbo move.

Your new Tundra TV looked great hooked to you AS on the way to the Balloon Fiesta.
