Hyundai Veracruz #3500 vs. Hyundai Santa Fe LWB #5000: Why the difference?

Hi, all,

I'm trying to figure out the difference between these two vehicles.

The discontinued Hyundai Veracruz has a tow rating of #3500, #4500 for boats, which I assume is a wind drag thing and would also apply to pop ups, (which is what I want to pull).

The new (2013 forward) Hyundai Santa Fe with the long wheelbase (not the shorter Santa Fe Sport) is rated for #5000.

Veracruz specs - 3.8L V6 263 hp. 110 inch wheelbase, 6-spd tranny

Santa Fe specs - 3.3L V6 290 hp, 106.3 inch wheelbase, 6 spd tranny

So 27 hp is a big deal? Not being snarky, here. I'm way out of my depth at this whole figuring out TVs thing.

P.S. The other vehicle I'm considering is a 2nd gen Dodge Durango Hemi V8, 335 hp, but I have some concerns about longevity / reliability.
