Hensley brake controller recall

Just and FYI if you have a Hensley Arrow Gold brake controller. Recently our Hensley Arrow Gold brake controller screen failed to "light up" while towing--makes adjustment quite a guessing game. Called Hensley and was told, "Oh, yes, we are replacing those with new controller & updated screen". We did not receive any notification by mail about this. Hensley did UPS us new controller w/charges only for postage.

How old was your Hensley brake controller?

The brake controller screen must be something added to "improve" the newer edition as ours has no such animal.

Our brake controller was 2 years old and had the old style screen for the "read-out". The new one looks the same but the screen is improved & shouldn't "burn out".

The problem has been solved with the LCD screens. We had about a 5% failure rate, which is much too high from a quality standpoint. It was from one batch of displays ordered early in the life of the product. No recall, folks. But if you have a problem we take care of it.

And for you electric/hydraulic users, by the way, I had a customer come in with a 30' Airstream and e/h brakes. He let me take his rig for a drive with the new TruControl II, which doesn't require leveling anymore. It was flawless. I already have it on my 33' SOB with electric brakes, but hadn't had tried the e/h yet. The LCD displays are back lit, so you may notice a little difference. Can't do fancy graphics, but they're rated for 70,000 hours. That should be enough for any of us.
