Cab configuration or tow capacity?
Supercab is extended cab.
Supercrew is crew cab.
Supercab should have a little more towing capacity because it is a little lighter.

I was just confused on the difference between super crew and supercab since both seem to have same interior dimensions and seating capacity.

I posted a spreadsheet I developed to help me decide on a TV/TT combination under the Tow Vehicles subforum. Here's the link to the spreadsheet. Read the notes tab first. If you enter some data about your TV and TT it will rate the towability so you can compare various combinations.

THIS IS JUST A TOOL TO USE AS A SMALL PART OF MAKING THIS IMPORTANT DECISION.

Hope you find it useful. I left the data for my truck and a couple of trailers in it so you can see how it works.

Al

Supercab should have slightly smaller dimensions.
Supercab has smaller back seat and rear half doors that sometimes open "suicide" style- hinged at the back, open at the front- but you have to open the front door first-
Supercrew has full back seat and full rear doors.

Those numbers if accurate seem doable!

Yeah, I want nothing to do with the suicide type doors. Have them now in my Honda Element and we hate them. All it takes is someone parking a bit too close at the grocery store and I'm "locked" out of my own car. :P

Supercrew it is.. I'll check on the numbers. What are your max. payloads?

SuperCrew 4x4 157" 5.0L V8 8200‡ 2330‡ SuperCrew 4x4 157" 3.5L EcoBoost V6 7350 1560 SuperCrew 4x4 157" 3.5L EcoBoost V6 7700* 1840* SuperCrew 4x4 157" 3.5L EcoBoost V6 8200*/‡ 2310*/‡

This is from Ford's website...

The * is max tow package and the other weird cross symbol is max payload package... they have packages for everything over there at Ford..

The eco boost seems promising, however, I just always thought you needed a V8 to tow.

You need horsepower and torque to tow.
The EcoBoost is a twin turbo V6 with plenty of horsepower and torque.
The Cummins diesel,is a 6 cylinder.
The Mercedes Sprinter is a V6.
The Mercedes GL 350 is a 6 cylinder.

You don't. There are many of us perfectly happy with our V6 engines.

Those different towing capacity and payload numbers for the same truck must be according to which rear end gears you get.

Well, I'll be...

The payload numbers on f150 sure beat the 1580 max on the suburban 1/2 ton.

More choices

Also, it drives better than the Suburban does. Which, considering its a truck, is saying something.
