I tow my 31 foot Airstream with a 1/2 ton 2-wheel drive F-150 Ford Lariat. It tows like a dream. A blowout can occur in any vehicle and would be dangerous in any condition. You don't drive 80 when towing a trailer....with all the sawy bars and such in place....a decent sized truck is just fine. As a matter of fact...just saw a pic with an Airstream being towed by a mini-van.

F-150 XL V6 Eco boost (V6 towing?) super cab

3.55 rear
4x4
Max payload 2000
Max towing 9600

$34k new

Now off the top of my head these numbers seem decent... What do you all think?

For myself, I'd prefer the 3.73 rear diff to the 3.55. I have a 3.55 in my current F150. Of course, the Ecoboost offers more torque and at a lower RPM so it might not matter all that much, but with the 3.73 you can get the "Max Tow" option that gets you the nice extending trailer mirrors. If you're using the truck a lot without the trailer, the 3.55 diff may get you a little better average fuel economy, but I doubt it'll be better economy when towing (total conjecture on my part with no direct evidence.)

I must be stupid OR blind. Ford's websites does not specify the difference between the supercab and supercrew?

I did see a few engines offer 3.73, so many damn options its mind numbing....will continue investigating!
