Grand Cherokee and Airstream 16 footer

Hello everyone!
I'm looking to buy Airstream 16 or 17 footer but I don't plan to buy a new car.
Will I be comfortable with my Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 1998 pulling this size of Airstream?

Another question...
I saw an ad for an Airstream International CCD 16 footer 2004 and they were asking $5,800. Is this a realistic price? I have seen these trailers sell for 30 or 40 thousand (but brand new).

Thank you!

The ad you saw is a scam! Don't respond to it. As for the Grand Cherokee you will be fine. Look at the classifieds on here and there is also several of us that will inspect it if it's far away. I did that a had a very good experience. Happy hunting.

I just looked and there are several on the classifieds. Also you could go up to a 19ft easy. That's what I have and love it! It has both black and grey tanks instead of being combined. Just a thought.

we looked at a grand Cherokee and the consensus was that the wheel base was too small. ferget where i saw it... id love to tow with it though... search forums for a thread on this. i think they said the wheelbase was increased on the 2010 or 11.

With weight distribution and anti sway you will be more than fine. A Grand should be more than stable for a 16-19 ft. Check the tires and replace the breaks if needed. Let us know what you find.

I've towed my '63 Trade Wind (24') more than 18,000 miles with my Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. No sway ever with an Equal-i-zer hitch.

My Dad towed Airstreams with Jeep Wagoneers back in the 60's and 70's. Jeep even ran ads with Airstream.

I looked at the 2011 and WOW what a nice suv! I'm looking to upgrade my tv next year and it's a beautiful vehicle.

---------------------------------

Thank you!
We pulled a 21 foot SOB with an GVW of 6800 # for 4 years with a 1999 Grand Cherokee with V-8 and Quadra-Trak. The main reason we upgraded to a larger TV was the MPG and the size of fuel tank on the Jeep. It seemed like we were constantly looking for fuel. I will say that the towing with the 3/4T Diesel truck we have now was much easier.

Regards,

Ken
