GM Integrated Brake Controller and Disc Brakes
Hello all,
I recently purchased a 2012 GMC Yukon XL 2500 tow vehicle to tow my 2009 27FB Classic. I have yet to hitch them up but, after a little reading on the Integrated brake controller, it appears that it is not compatible with my disc brakes. Does anyone have any information, if indeed this is the case, on a "workaround" with this issue.
I really like the idea of using the ITBC and not too keen on wiring in my Prodigy controller.
Thanks!!
Cory

I am afraid you will have to wire in your Prodigy. GM ITBC was not compatable with E over H until 2014 in the 1500s and 2015 on the HDs. For the FSSUs, it was 2015. New body style is the clue.

Thanks, that's a bummer! I was hoping someone had found a workaround.

There is a little knpwn GM service bulletin on how to properly do this. The integrated controller has to be disabled a certain way apparently. Ancira in Boerne, TX did ours. They are a car dealer and RV dealer on same property. The service manager there knew exactly what to do, whereas none of the Houston dealers would touch it.

Do some searching on Air Forums. I feel like I've seen some other threads on the subject. I think the solution is to put a standard RV brake magnet in the system to fool the brake controller. I know that sounds a little odd but there are several people doing this if my memory is correct.

I did some research and you can indeed wire in some brake magnets inline to correct this error. I ordered 2 pucks from amazon and will try this before moving toward replacing the hydraulic actuator and a module compatible with my ITBC.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!

Airstream recommends the "DirecLink" brake controller for disc brakes. I have one for 4 years and am quite pleased with the features.

Guskmg, I checked out Direclink's website and I'm still a little confused on their products.
Do you have the DirecLink controller or the ActuLink actuator? or both?
It seems like a well thought-out product but, the information on their website is a little confusing. I guess a call to them sometime should clear many questions.
Thanks!
