I sometimes wonder how much fuel for the farm equipment to plant, cultivate, fertilize, harvest etc. Also, ive heard of it destroying fiberglass fuel tanks in boats. Sal.

Corn, fed to cattle. A whole slew of subsidies inside of that. There's a reason a cheeseburger can be had for a $1.50 and it is only due to governmental favoritism. Tax breaks abound for this "industry" which drives mom & pop competitors out of business, and the profits leave that community; it is poorer on a range of services not covered by a wage below the cost of living. Costs go up to the local and state taxpayer.
The subsidy of gasoline is one of the worst. Were it not subsidized the true cost would be just under $12/gal.
