Just towed my classic 28' with my 2012 F150 eco-boost with a 150lb generator and 300 pound dog box in the bed. No issues at all with power, sway and 15mpg per gallon

F150 Echoboost Towing

There is no package called HD tow from Ford on the F150. HD Payload includes Max Tow, however. HD Payload is not available on a Platinum, but I think Max Tow is.

We purchased the Platinum 2012 F150 Supercab 4X4 Echoboost; it has the 3.53 and the 6 speed auto...works well for towing the 25' AS, and also gets reasonable mileage if you keep you foot off the gas. This rig rides very nice, has plenty of torque and pulling power, and you do not need the 3.73 with the 6 speed, IMHO...several dealers I talked with agree...so should not be an issue. Also, I did not get the "off road" package; I drove both but the off roadrides very stiff compared to the standard 4x4 ride...Wife and I are amazed at the quite and comfort of this pickup, which has so much torque and still hauls up to 10K pounds...I agree with other comments on this TV...this is a winner for pulling the AS.

Your riding "BullDog" as in your back suspension looks very compressed with less weight over the steering axel...

Raising the hitch height will not change weight distribution to the front axle enough. It may level the trailer, but not the truck. Adjusting the wd hitch is the answer. After rereading maybe that is what you meant by having the hitch adjusted up. Sorry if I misunderstood. Jim

Thanks. I'm taking it to a different shop again. The guys at the local shop just adjusted the ball higher and left the weight distribution adjustment as is.

Ford F150 3.5L Eco Boost
If you zoom in the hitch, two bolts are below the an available space, the local shop raised this up one notch.

Do you mean, the away bar adjustment at the trailer side needs adjustment also ?

How many washers are you using in the hitch head? I would recommend 5 to start with. The distance between the center of the ball and the center of the L brackets should be 32 inches.
The picture looks like it might be a bit short.

The 6.0 diesel is junk and ford won't stand behind it I had a 2007 and put 260 thousand miles on it and lots of cash 3 sets injectors, fuel mod card ipr valve just to mention a few every time the engine light came on I knew there $2000.00 dollars or more. when running right it was great but never ran right for long. If you got 100 k you are luckly get rid of it

Hi, I agree with this; Mine were too close at first too. Moving the brackets farther back gives your spring bars more leverage and flexibility.
I also recommend that you install your "L" clip pins with the loop in the front instead of the open end in front. And you should install your spring bar socket pins with the clips to the inside. The reason that I say this is that, while going in a forward motion, a bush or any other object hitting these clips could knock them out. I ran over something on the freeway once and found one of the clips was missing.

The bulletproof engine will last probably on the order of a half million miles.

The 6.0 needs either EGR delete or aftermarket metal cooler, coolant filter, and either oil cooler change but preferably and air cooled external oil cooler conversion. If an early model head bolt studs, & if the turbo is already trashed an aftermarket turbo. Just go to the Web & search "bullet proof 6.0" or same on YouTube & you will find lots of info & folks to address the 6.0 issues and you will soon learn 6.0 is the same delendable diesel engine in almost all International powered school busses, but with a lot of problematic emission stuff poorly engineer by Ford/Navistar and hurriedly tacked onto it. Turn it back into a clean International school bus engine and it will run very strong forever. Ford/Navistar just demonstrated that there is a right way and a wrong way, although also a cheap way, to do everything as exemplified by their poor conversion of the 6.0...., and that unending litigation between Ford and Navistar simply left the consumers out in the cold

You guys sure don't seem to know what a 3.5liter ecoboost is by your discussion.

213 cubic inch v6 with two small diameter turbos.
Its not that the little engine doesnt have enough power to pull a larger trailer.I does
Sadly the suspension on the truck was not designed for the weight of the large trailer, cargo and occupants pictured here.
